Apart from the (WRU-owned) Dragons, there was nothing immediately on the websites of the 3 independent Regions yesterday ….. eventually on the Blues’ site, complete with the above mentioned typos! Still nothing on either the Ospreys’ or Scarlets’ respective websites.
Anyone see Ireland winning the title today? Can't see it myself but still a possibility if France get twitchy. Hopefully we'll see a positive performance from Wales and a happy ending (but not in the way you're thinking ).
Well Wales fully deserved what they got today. There was no apparent game plan and apart from a few periods of the match there was no attacking threat. Well done Italy a fully deserved win.
As you know from my previous posts, I have never rated Pivac as a (top) international coach. Does anyone seriously think he would be appointed by any Top 10 Rugby Nation? He got the gig based on one successful season at Llanelli - a season that had started with comments reaching the other Welsh Regions that the Scarlets’ squad was unhappy - yes he turned it around but that was PRO 14 level not International level. Gareth Davies and Martyn Phillips were persuaded/lobbied to opt for Pivac - Dave Rennie was in the frame, yet they opted for Pivac ….. Beggars belief….. Last year we were lucky that opponents suffered red cards when well placed. No such luck this season, and what happens? Updating what I posted previously, not including the uncapped match against Barbarians in November 2019, Pivac’s international record is 11 victories, 15 defeats and a draw. Under Gatland, Wales won 85 of the 151 games, a win rateof over 56 per cent. That climbs to more than 60 per cent in the World Cup, with 12 wins from 17 games, and almost 71 per cent in the Six Nations with 42 wins from 60 games. Pivac tinkered far too much for this Italian game suggesting that after 2 and a half years in to the job, he still has no idea of his best team, nor how he wants to play. Ditch him now or risk not getting out of the World Cup group - I bet Fiji can’t wait to play a Wales team coached by Pivac. Bloody hell, Georgia will fancy their chances as well
I thought exactly the same! There was definitely a dig in there. We've gone backwards and are now static. Such a massive shame for Big's 100th and AW's 150th.
The problem (ie question) is whether Rob from Geog and my old ‘mate’ Steve Phillips have the balls to do what is needed …..
The trouble is that there needs a lot more to be put right than just replacing Pivac but it would be a good place to start!
Agreed - there needs to be a root and branch review, with the Professional game controlled and run by the Professional game, not by people like Rob from Geog and a CEO who owes his job to the Community game/clubs…..
