I don't think a win would have helped them anyway. The most points they could have have got was 77 - Swansea were already on 76 and have Derby to play. I doubt even they could lose to them. Their only other hope would have been Barnsley losing both their remaining games - and I wouldn't put money on that either.
As has been pointed out elsewhere, two of the promotion hopefuls will not know which league they are playing in next season until the 29th May. This really doesn't help with planning. Watford and Norwich can get on with sorting out what players they hope to keep or recruit, giving them a four to five week advantage.
Graham Taylor pointed out the disadvantage of being promoted via the playoffs because of the uncertainty until after the final and the then shortened time left for player recruitment etc. But then again it's still better than no promotion at all.
Have to feel sorry for Rotherham - they played reasonably well tonight to keep Brentford to 1-0. Such a shame that they had all those fixtures postponed - eight games in 22 days and they still haven't caught them all up yet. Glad it wasn't us...
DAMN got over excited about the promotion and all. It would be great to see Reading win this weekend and Barnsley the one after.
After the arrogant rants of Donkey Dognuts wouldn't it be great if Norwich lost their last two games and we pipped them for the title
How come Jenson played for Brentford against Rotherham last night? I thought he got sent off with 2 yellow cards at the weekend and would serve a 1 match ban. Am I being overtired and thick? Do they have 2 Jansens/Jensons or something?
