Aussie women looking far too good for their Kiwi opponents in the RL world cup final - leading 20-0 at half time. Kiwis haven't looked like scoring at all.
Awesome second half from Australia to run out 54-4 winners - and the players kranky at conceding a late try.
Half an hour into the men's final and Samoa are starting to crumble. After dominating early, they've conceded three tries - Australia 14-0 up.
Final score 30-10. Fair play to Samoa - they made a game of it the second half, but just ran out of steam.
I had the pleasure of meeting him after a match at Newcastle in the late mid 90's. Fans and players used to mix in the bar post match in those days with the drinking culture still prevalent at the top level in those days. I got to "Fez" him, which is to say got him to agree to a photo of him with us Fez Boys whilst he wore my fez. Absolute gentleman, he spoke with us for quite some time. It was a midweek match up in Gosforth and the coach dropped me off almost outside of my home: it was so late that I met the milkman on the doorstep and paid my outstanding bill with some of my left over cash from the trip! I think the social still happens these days (Covid rules notwithstanding) but the drinking culture has gone for sure. I met a lot of the top players over that ten year period of regular attendance. I was not one of the originators of the Fez Boys but I was very much part of the first thirty or so before it became a generic thing. University put paid to it eventually, I had to give up the football or the rugby. Not had the time not the money to do both since, especially with my move away from Watford and Saracens move to Barnet.
England players might have had the runs but they are certainly piling them on ! Except Root of all people.
An amazing claim by David Warner - that the ball tampering incident for which he received a ban was actually approved by Cricket Australia executives. I wonder if he'll be given another ban, effectively ending his career? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2022-12-08/sport-david-warner-ball-tampering-claims/101751636
