Wasn't a very good toss to win and choose to bat. Both teams are probably stronger in their bowling too. They have Jason Holder , we have Jimmy Anderson and Stokes.
Who says that Test cricket is boring. There was as much tension there as watching Watford trying to defend a one goal lead for eighty minutes.
I just saw the result this morning.. Great win.. Last time I caught up we were losing wickets fast....
Yes there was a little collapse after lunch but then Buttler and Woakes played their shots which put pressure on the young Pakistan bowlers. It was nice to watch something without worrying if VAR or a bad decision might get in the way ! And everyone was sporting at the end.
I do wonder if not having 20,000 very excited fans in the ground actually helped Buttler and Woakes concentrate. Very difficult not to get caught up in the emotion of it all.
Up till the partnership of Buttler and Woakes it was a test match we were losing After they scored a few runs it was a one day match we could win without the pressure of running out of overs Also during the last few overs our best player was the Pakistani captain I hope he has learned a valuable lesson and doesn't suffer too much from it
Just watched the the snooker. Decided by a last frame of 55 minutes! And a final frame score of 90 odd-60! Snookers and mis pots all round.
Although there will be many things different this year the Tour de France will be starting Saturday in Nice. The scenery will be different as the fields of sunflowers have gone over, the harvest is finished so the bales of straw are now moved into the barns, and the crowds on the mountain stages are likely to be limited. Once again the riders are coming within 30 minutes of us, so I will go out to watch the caravan of advertisers, and the swish of the peloton going past. An understanding of the whole cycling setup here helps, but there is an atmosphere that you can feel in the crowds that gather at the roadsides. It is in a gathering of the natives like this that I feel most French, and the fact that I can talk to my friend Bernard about teams and riders goes down well with him. He was a decent club rider in his youth, with mountain climbing his forte. Today he is still very short, but weighs in at more than me. Teams this year could be disqualified if they get riders or staff with the virus. Let's hope that the race is completed.
Normally the Tour de France starts off with a nice gentle stage and a bit of a burn up in the final km. Today it went into the hills at the back of Nice, with hairpin bends, small climbs and quick descents. Well that was the plan, but it was raining and the cyclists looked as though they were racing on ice. Lost track of the number of riders who finished up in a heap. Some of the more experienced used their knowledge to get everyone to slow down and it became a very strange affair. Instead of the spectators being out on the side of the course in shorts and tee shirts, they were hiding under brollies, raincoats and masks of course. You really did wish it was July again.
Must be a worry for various reasons that the tour might not finish. After this they have the Giro too! All does seem to be rushed a bit maybe to suit sponsors and TV people?
Not often Hamilton doesn't win...or even come in the top 3. Maybe give him a time penalty each race? And even rarer to not see a Red Bull, Mercedes on Ferrari on the podium.
Always nice ! Bit sad it takes a crash and mistakes by Hamilton's team for that to happen really but credit to Gasly for taking advantage.
After the last few seasons that have been dreadful for McLaren it is good to see them slowly coming back.
