I watched some of that in the hope that I would hear a shot somewhere but alas no such luck. I heard his speech. Here we go then and so much for us being "special". I wasn't around in the Second WW but what led to an excuse for that was leaders looking inward blaming everything on them pesky foreigners. It's beginning to happen all over again. Trump is a complete moron and I hate to think what's going to happen until the shot is fired. The Yanks are getting slack. You could always rely on soe nutter before to do the right thing. Where are they when you need one.

America First will become America Alone. That won't worry Trump but it's not good for the world order while Putin's around.

I have been looking around to see if there is anything that takes my fancy this weekend which is Argyle football free. There isn't anything that grabs me so what the **** am I going to do on Saturday all day. If Argyle are away I have my little routine before I settle down to look at the various scores coming in and monitor how things are going. If they are at home then again I have my routine and time to leave home etc. But without a match and virtually all of the rest playing I'm lost. I can't just sit here and look at everyone elses scores and stuff. It's enough after the game is over to just check who did what but not sit here all afternoon as if my team were out there as well. I might get volunteered to do a job or something just to make my Saturday even worse. It's gonna be a disaster. <doh>:headbang:<wah>

Been reading about how John Sheridan lost it in a big way during the Wycombe Wanderers match last December.

He was sacked by Notts County for gross misconduct after an appalling verbal outburst in which he threatened officials during the defeat by Wycombe.

Chairman Alan Hardy said that they where a family friendly club and would not tolerate such a thing happening.

Sheridan is back yet again at Oldham.

F1 takeover.....goodbye Bernie Ecclestone.....love him or hate him.....bought out by the American giant Liberty Media whose Chairman is John Malone (75 yrs old) a reclusive billionaire, the biggest landowner in the USA nicknamed 'Darth Vader'.

F1 will be run by Chase Carey he will be Chairman and CEO,and has been vice-president of 21st Century Fox and also negotiated a £1 billion NFL rights deal.

Carey is talking about bringing F1 up to speed (sorry no pun intended)....upping the races from 20 to 23 or 25 a year (knackered drivers come to mind) and intends to make his primary goal a street race in the USA preferably New York.
He will invest in the latest forms of social media....he sees Ecclestone a Luddite in these areas (Ecclestone agrees that he is).

He want's to bring a more Festival vibe feeling to races than F1 has ever done before.....Liberty Media want to find a way to harness the latest VR technology to attract more fans....to convey the noise, the speed or the visceral thrill of being at a race in the flesh.
Carey will not stop at New York in his quest to entice the US market. Races in Las Vegas, Los Angeles and Miami have already been mooted, as they offer backdrops that TV companies would be falling over themselves to broadcast.

Wow I feel totally left behind with that sought of talk.....no talk of trying to get the race more interesting by overtaking manoeuvres being made more possible at some of these circuits.....overtaking in the pit lane action seemed to be more possible than on the track......more races will stretch drivers ability to recover between races....would this mean doing away with the mid-season break in August ?

I fear that it will end any terrestrial TV coverage....if Carey's aim is more commercialization it will mean selling the viewing rights to the biggest payer...and that cuts out surely any BBC/ITV viewers right away.....we will live on the dregs of watching the highlights at a later time....and for some of us F1 will go the same way as cricket did....out of view out of mind.

I see that Liverpool have made Philippe Coutinho their highest paid player.....a 5 year deal worth £150,000 per week.
Surely that isn't the same Coutinho that played against us the other night....one good corner was the sum of his efforts all evening.....our defenders will be asking for a pay rise if that is the case.

Rather confusing on the BBC Sports website.....two different reports about the above story....one says £150,000 per week.....the other quotes a sum of £200,000 per week...<confused>....

Not the best of days in PL3. Mother-in-Law in hospital after suffering a minor stroke in the night (turns out she also has a dodgy heart rhythm) . Every chance she will make a fullish recovery but our experience today shows just how good the NHS is when someone really needs it. She phoned the GP at 0800, was seen by him at 0830 and sent to A&E who saw her straight away. Head scan PM today that confirmed she'd had a stroke and booked in for more tests tomorrow. Despite all the pressures in the hospital (I should know being married to a nurse) the staff pulled out all the stops when it really mattered.

Good to hear of something going well in the NHS......hope your mother-in-law makes a good recovery.

Mrs Plym used to work in Clinical Measurements in the Princess Royal University Hospital (the PRUH) just up the road from here until she retired....the stress and strain that staff put up with everyday was evident to her.

Yep hope all goes well with her Lyndhurst.

Derriford really is an inigma sometimes isn't it. When I needed them they were very good. When my mother needed them before she died they were good in parts. The spoiler was a male nurse who flounced her to the toilet as if an inconvenience and then was about to just leave her there and walk off the Ward without telling anyone she was in there. When ask what he was doing his answer was "my shift has finished". Caring sort of bloke. They were brilliant with her when she broke her hip two days before my father's funeral to get her there. Then my sister-in-law who dislocated her elbow following a fall down her stairs recently who was first given the wrong support for the elbow, then the wrong seditive to reset the joint. Then they failed to reset it and only found out they hadn't put it back by an x-ray the next day. So great one day and poor the next. Trouble is though we tend to tar everyone with the same brush and if one bad experience then all staff are bad. It used to nark me when I was at work. Some of my colleagues were the stereotype lazy council worker leaning on the imaginary broom. Most though cared what happened and were as frustrated by the restrictions we worked under as the people were receiving the news they couldn't have what they were asking for. Generally that was taken out on whoever had to tell them even though it was not their fault and they were just a messenger.

Ryan Brunt has had a set back.......the specialist has told him to stop running and rest his knee for 6 weeks after feeling pain in it, not seen as serious.
