The U's and the Shrews hadn't won a league game between them until they met last night but the U's ended that run with a fully deserved win against the much fancied Shrews. United took the lead early on with a great strike from all of 30 yards from Simon Heslop that swerved and dipped and flicked the underside of the bar as it gave the keeper no chance. Smith pulled off 2 fantastic saves in the first to keep the score to 1-0 at half time

Lewis Guy scored his first goal for the club 6 minutes into the 2nd half to seal the win. Smith made a fantastic save from a Peter Levin freekick to keep the score down but let himself down with 2 bizarre altercations with a ballboy

This result had been on the cards given the way we had played in the last 2 home games but its always a relief to get the first win on the board
