It's strange people would think suggesting Ole is failing is because he's telling players to play badly.

What's so hard to understand it's about what Ole isn't doing. It's called incompetence btw, many people in jobs are guilty of it. Doesn't mean they deliberately go out to fck their own job lol.

Btw anyone see the results tonight? By the end of the game against West Ham we could just be clinging on to 4th if we're lucky.

Keep those rose tints on though.

20 away games undefeated, do you think that's just happened by chance or is the management/coaching staff giving the players some instruction, have the team played in any kind of system to achieve this?

Ofcourse, and in many of those games he's been commended, just look at the Leicester thread. Ironically a game we could've won but drew due to two careless goals but it was largely seen as a positive performance.

But you've got to look deeper, you can't lump all 20 games in one homogenous judgement. Looking at this season, I'd split them into 3 categories dependent on the opposition. The first are those who played a more open game and who we could therefore play our natural game because believe it or not our players are good. The second are those games when we came up against top 6 sides and played "not to lose" football. The third are those where the opposition set up to defend and we couldn't break them down for the reasons posted earlier - you know the ones, draws against the mighty Palace, West Brom, . The second and third categories highlight perfectly why there is a lack of any tactical nous. It's why we were camped in our own half with 10 mins to go last night.

So you at least accept we have a system of play then?

    <laugh>

You've picked one thing and pulled away at it to such a point you've lost all track of what's being said.

Yes mate if a team opens up, we can play a pass from defence to midfield and even find one of our strikers <laugh>

Ive had a go at this before. Good luck with that. All this doesn’t happen by chance. To suggest that there is no system or tactics or coaching is simply bonkers. We can argue that the system could/should be better. We could/should have beaten the chavs away and the performance against Palace was just abject. The players just couldn’t put 2 or 3 passes together as if they were drunk. nothing to do with tactics. As everyone now is aware we could find ourselves in 4-6 positions if we are not careful. Yet if we do maintain 2nd (and it is a big if) then that would have nothing to do with the coaching and is nothing ?

The bottom line is, we had the opportunity to compete in a title race but at that point lost at home to Sheffield United, threw away a healthy lead v Everton, couldn't beat an utterly dreadful West Brom etc. etc. and that 'challenge' fizzled out, while the coaching were doffing their caps to City and trying to convince everyone we're not really good enough but are trying really hard to get there. Totally wrong mindset, ridiculous even.

Some think the players run the whole thing, clearly, which simply makes Ole even more of a nodding dog than the rest think he might be anyway.

While some of us can spot the clear lack of any genuinely top class coaching, which is why we are now likely to be 20+ points behind City at the season end.

Which is when this has to be judged, the season end. We're in a pretty precarious position now, we play City at the weekend and so will more than likely lose. We're unlikely to try to win, put it that way.

Some teams below us can make up ground and so second doesn't look so secure.

Is 4th acceptable? Not for me really. If we didn't get 4th, does that mean people agree Ole should be replaced, or will a cup win then save him?

Let's see what happens, eh? I'm not confident myself but am prepared to wait till season end, it's been ****e without fans anyway.

The club should be scouting his replacement though. Now.
Even if they don't have to go through with it, they should be looking for the next manager.

You say these things better than I without getting angry.

No need for me or anyone to repeat those critical points in that post. But I will reiterate the fallacy in looking at development and progress made by the club simply from the perspective of league position if we are not in first place.

Most critical benchmark has to be how far we are in points accumulated from first place team. That is it! All these talks about “we are still second and the sky is not falling” are clearly geared to mask our failures. What is most glaring this season is how easy we gave up first position without a single fight. It is emblematic of Ole’s regime and the absurdity of aiming so low shows that the mentality is completely wrong - always passing on the buck and never standing up and being accountable to fully own our destiny.

I should stop now... I’m starting to get angry!

This squad aren't title challengers and the only reason we are where we are this season is that everyone else has been crap. Get three more in and we might have a shout.

There is so much contradiction in the other sides arguments. On one hand it is argued and accepted by all that Bruno F is one of the few key players and when he goes missing or not performing United do not perform. We also have Pogba but he is injured and unavailable. This by definition means that we need better players. City had Debryune injured but other midfielders picked up the baton. However good the coaching could be the reality is that we need a few better players to get a deeper squad when these matches come thick and fast. We need to be able to rest and rotate key players as Bruno and Marcus looked absolutely shattered on Wednesday.

You folks are ridiculous! We’ve spent more than £70m on midfielders since summer. This was after Bruno.

We can barely get decent mileage out of what we already have. Most of the players have either stalled or gone backward in development. But the answer is always to do another buy and swap without ever first addressing why a very decent team can’t produce consistently.

I guess I am one of very few that believe that this team is far better than what they produce.

Yeah, let’s spend £200m to continue the shtshow of good players than turn into damaged goods due to lack of decent coaching to make them better.

While at it, let’s continue to sell off players at a discount. The trend lately has been that we offload players at a loss because they are never good enough for us which ultimately kills their market value. But ironically, they all tend to go on to become better elsewhere.

This is the new United way!

Usually in much weaker leagues that better suit their talent.

It has always been "the United way" to let players go cheap, if they are not good enough it's no use keep paying their (usually high) wage and holding them back from being successful at another level.
This happens a lot with kids too, we quite often almost give them away if their path to first team is crowded, we don't just hold them back to stagnate and this has been going on for at least 40 years.

The idea of getting rid of surplus players who go on to play ok in weaker leagues should not be credited to OGS. Moyes LVG and Mourinho did that plenty and much more than Ole. <ok>

Weaker leagues? Yet we can’t qualify from group stages of Champions league against the so-called teams from weaker leagues.

    Excuses and rationalization...

The theory that our players are not being coached and therefore regressing is a complete myth. Our players are coached and trained no worse than teams such as Chelsea Arsenal Spurs and others.

The toughest group of all when the draw was made. Accepted by all. 1finalist and 1 semi finalist. Which of our players went on to play for them? Italian league stronger than ours? Of course why let the facts detract from the theory?
