Paul Lambert has left Ipswich tonight. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...d-as-ipswich-manager-as-takeover-moves-closer Interesting as it mentions them being close to a takeover being agreed with US investors, and that the deal was brokered by a director of another EFL club. Meth head or Donald???
Worryingly they might get a new manager bounce, after lambert that's probably a cast-iron possibility Hadn't heard that marra, knowing he wasn't part of the future plans
Press are speculating that he might be off to Celtic. Celtic manager latest: Paul Lambert odds tumble after Ipswich Town departure | The Scotsman
Probably both, he knew he was on borrowed time at Ipswich so maybe left with mutual agreement if this takeover is pretty far on, knowing he'd be gone soon anyway. And if there's an opportunity to go to Celtic now getting linked with it isn't bad for any future jobs, whether he gets it or not.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cowleys turn up there. They'll have a point to prove after their experience at Huddersfield.
I don’t think a new manager is gonna push Ipswich much further. Their position is about right for their squad so I ain’t worried about a major resurgence there this season. Mad if he walks into Celtic job after years of failings, it’s like they are trying to let Rangers run away from them.
Darren Moore's left Doncaster as well! https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/spo...Vb0XdSQRl15vT5RT9GQ-U8rL9lpTRBkoLfQCxgg646o4A
They should get Lampard, that'd be an entertaining situation. Whatever they do they should be looking at a damn sight better than Lambert.
I saw in the Athletic that they’re expected to appoint Paul Cook as his replacement. I hope this isn’t the case.
I'm surprised that Moore has gone to Sheffield Wednesday, they seem a basket case at the minute with their owner. It's looking highly unlikely that they'll avoid relegation and it doesn't look like there's much money for rebuilding next season. Unless there's something happening behind the scenes at Doncaster it doesn't seem that good a move.
From the outside it does seem a strange decision, especially where Doncaster are sitting in the league. No doubt he'll see Sheff Wed as a bigger club and reckon he'll be able to turn them around
Probably thought wont get Doncaster up and if he cant stop Sheff Wed in going down, where would he rather be at the start of next season.
Transfer Market lists the value of their squad at $20 million, Us 11m, Hull 13m, Portsmouth 8m, Peterborough 3m. It's a young squad - so likely - there's some future value being factored in - but I still wouldn't want to face them in a playoff match.
I remember how loudly Sheff Wed were screaming when Newcastle poached Bruce ... .... seems their 'principles' are quite fluid.
I personally wouldn’t be judging the calibre of a squad by a website. We’ve played them and they had nothing about them, they’ve struggled for consistency. If someone tells me there squad is better than ours, Hulls, Peterborough’s or Portsmouths then I’d tell them to take up watching cricket. Not aimed at you for clarity mate, but there’s no way they have the most valuable squad in the league, that would be Peterborough by a distance.
We're ahead of Ipswich in the league, and have played them twice already. Hopefully they do get a bit of a new manager bounce against the other sides around us. So I don't think it's a bad thing.
