Charlie Kirk is the only player to retain his starting berth following Saturday’s triumph at Fleetwood Town, while academy prospects James Beadle and Nazir Bakrin feature in the senior matchday squad for the first time. Should the Addicks employ a fluid 4-3-3 formation then Adam Matthews, Deji Elerewe, club captain Jason Pearce and Ben Purrington will start ahead of Nathan Harness. Sean Clare, George Dobson and Albie Morgan are expected to form Adkins’ three-man midfield, with the returning Jaiyesimi and Kirk operating either side of Jayden Stockley. Beadle and Bakrin are joined on the bench by Akin Famewo, Ben Dempsey, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Charles Clayden and Mason Burstow. Charlton: Harness; Matthews, Elerewe, Pearce (c), Purrington; Clare, Dobson, Morgan; Jaiyesimi, Stockley, Kirk Subs: Beadle, Bakrin, Famewo, Dempsey, Blackett-Taylor, Clayden, Burstow Supporters worldwide will be able to watch all of the action live on CharltonTV, with commentary provided by Terry Smith and Greg Stubley. That's fine by me, we need confidence and goals and without a game for a while this will keep the players ticking over.
Adkins is taking this seriously. Not sure I would have, but he's the gaffer (for the time being). Question is, how decent are Saints yoof? Will it be... (you guessed it) ... men against boys?
Lots of pressure, no real goal chances. Morgan spraying Beckham esq passes across the pitch. Saints U21’s full of energy but look like U21’s funnily enough
Several corners all played short and the ball doesn’t come over. I think they’ve forgot we have the Headmaster up front.
H/T 3-0. Can’t read too much into anything as the opposition is true U21 level. Not been impressed with Kirk so far - he should be doing better against this team, likewise Jaiyesimi who always seems to run himself into trouble. Clare, Dobson and Morgan running midfield but so they should.
