Well what a finish. I too managed to listen on Radio Solent. Got up early to do so - now wish I had a lay in and just got up for the last quarter of an hour! Bad luck -Lapras - so close to the result you wanted!!! (only joking) On the basis of the commentary Pompey were not so convincing for most of the game but all that may be forgotten after the excitement at the end.
Three more visits to Wembley coming up for Pompey fans. Should be a crowd of around 65,000 maybe more should Newport come through as I am sure the town will come out in forcé. Not sure what kind of following Salford would bring.
If we end up missing out on promotion because our players are burnout like last season, I'll be livid. Promotion has to be the priority so why are we wasting time on this? The FA Cup is understandable, but the b team cup?
Are Pompey ready for the massive leap into the Championship at this moment with the squad they currently have? Look how last season's promoted teams have fared in the Championship this year. To do well, PFC would need to invest considerably in better Quality players and increase the wages. Are the resources in place? It might be better to improve the squad in League 1 in the summer, and go for promotion next season if promotion is missed this time.
Possibly, but with the amount of money in the championship compared to league one, a season in the championship will not do any harm financially. Plus, hopefully with the eisner's backing we will be able to at least be competitive in the championship. People say they don't want to spend any money so are actively trying to avoid promotion but given the vast difference in funding between the two leagues, it would be in their best interests to at least try to remain in the league. Of course when you start challenging for promotion, that's when the multi million pound loses start piling up
No team has ever won this competition two seasons in a row! Time to make history. Surely even you can't moan at that Lapras????
I just wish we didn't suddenly start taking it seriously after academies were introduced. Or maybe other clubs just stopped taking it so seriously after academies were introduced.
In the other semi final, Newport County v Salford match ended 0-0, after a drab boring game. Salford beat Newport 6-5 on penalties, so meet us in the final at Wembley. Thought Salford looked the better team and tried to play attractive football on a terrible muddy pitch (a bit like Tranmere Rovers awful pitch).
On social media today I read that Pompey should receive a bigger allocation than last year. Probably on the basis that neither Salford or Newport would bring as many fans as Sunderland did last year. I don't think Pompey fans will have any problems in securing a ticket for the game.
