I have to say I'm loving all this. Oxford can be quite capable which will focus the team more than yesterday. Playing against them, and Peterborough, over Easter is what memories are made of like our incredible 2-1 win at Southampton under Keane ... ... what a fabulous day out that was, incredible support. Such a shame we can't be at the SOL then Peterborough this time. We'd swamp the place.
Home win. I think Stewart may come in for Gooch. If Wright is fit I think he will come back in. As good as Onien has been, I'd prefer to see him in midfield against these 'better' teams. Looking forward to see what Johnson does when the injured lads get back.
hopefully we play better than yesterday think we will need to TBH 6 points in 2 tough games would be massive if we can get them if cant we need a minimum of 4
When we have most of our players fit it'll be anyone's guess who's going to be in the first 11 ... ... some people wanted Stewart in for O'Brien but it's a tough call. Personally I'd rather see those two together, for their mobility, and Wyke off the bench as a three if we need it.
I like O'Brien. He gets the best out of Wyke, Gooch is a good player but just a little out of form and I like what I've seen of Stewart; seems a real grafter rather than a big target man.
4 points over Easter and we go up. Two tricky games it has to be said. Hopefully Jones and Wright are back. Oxfords left back went off on Friday hopefully he misses our game
If players were fit and we could change things I would like to see O9 with Winchester & Scowen in a midfield 3. Scowen is well nicknamed "The rat" and the amount of balls he chased down and harried players was good to see. Winchester imo is growing into the role and getting better. O9 is intelligent, will score a few in a more advanced role and is an angelic niggly tw*t when the situation calls. Regardless of who is picked the players on the bench would be as good as the 11 on the pitch. Possibly a good job we have injuries as LJ could potentially have too much choice
I have a mental picture of McGeady licking his lips ... ... and he's not at McDonald's If he switches over there, or Jones plays, we could destroy them.
If he can sell it to Wyke as a breather he might get away with it ... ... there's something about Charlie I don't feel comfortable with. Might sound daft but I don't think he wants to be here.
We always play better against the better sides in the league. We need two big performances this Easter. Two of the biggest games in our recent history for me
I think that choice will be made for him come summer. I can see a huge clearout inc McGeady, Maguire, Leds and a few others if we go up. Got to be ruthless when it matters.
I can't wait. Bought the streaming pass for Oxford already. Gutted we can't be at the SoL but promotion is more important.
I was hoping the Govt had a change of heart and opened up for the last games of the season. I think we would sell out.
It would be rocking. The feel good factor is off the charts atm. Over 40k easy. Double mexican waves gannin round the ground, James Brown blasting out of the new PA system when the 5th goal goes in and everything.
Enjoying these pre game chat threads, hope you make it a regular feature smug. I looked through the top 3 fixtures last night, and using a very technical method (well, guessing) i came up with the following..... I based it on Hull and Peterborough both beating us, Hull would get another 16 points, putting them on 86. Peterborough I got 16 points as well, putting them on 85. I got us getting another 20 points, putting us on 87. And that's IF we get nothing from the Hull and Peterborough games. I think we're going up lads, and going up as Champions....league and Cup double!!
All the games are important, but if we can get a win on Friday and Hull slip up at Crewe, we could afford to drop a couple of points next Monday and still be firmly in the driving seat. Think we'll be well fired up for these Easter games. Lincoln unlocked Oxford's defence quite a few times last Friday but didn't have anyone who could finish. Jones and McGeady will terrorise them. It was noticeable that Bristol tried to double up on McGeady. Oxford can't do that on both flanks without leaving the middle of the park exposed. Home win all day for me.
