Premier League clubs have voted against continuing to allow five substitutions in a match for the 2020-21 season.

The rule was brought in when the 2019-20 top-flight season restarted in June, having been halted for three months because of the coronavirus pandemic.

For next season, the league will revert to three permitted substitutions.

Stupid decision. It should be allowed normally. More young kids get a chance to play. Less injuries. It doesn’t waste any extra time if keep to three sub opportunities.

I think it's a good decision, personally. Means bigger clubs can't offer all their players first team football if they stockpile players.

Stick to three, too many subs cause the matches to loose cohesion and impetus and many are used just to run down the clock in the last ten minutes or so.
I'd rather have one keeper sub and one outfield sub personally.

Personally I think a manager should be able to choose from his whole squad for substitutes. But while I agree It should stay at 3 max would allow a fourth if the keeper is injured after the 3 outfield players are used.

But that’s sensible logic, so that’ll never work for the EFL...

Maybe we should have unlimited subs, then? Anything that makes it harder to maintain an over-sized squad is a good thing IMHO...
