He will be picked, they increased the squad sizes. Whether he plays or not is another problem

    I hope he is not.

There will be a scapegoat for englands inevitable failure at this tournament and I want it to be southgate.

Trent plays one bad pass and he would be the convenient one.

I can see england losing on pens I first knockouts here or worse drawing all group games.

good. The Lad needs a rest.

Southgate is clueless, the less you have to do with him, the better your career will be.

If true then it's harsh on Trent, who inevitably will take it as a criticism of his ability and that's unfair.
Southgate clearly doesn't rate him highly enough, but that's Southgate's mistake.
However, from the club's viewpoint it couldn't be better - keep as many of our players away from the bloody things I say.
They should have been called off months ago - they're only going to risk setting off a whole new wave of covid cases throughout European football no matter what anyone says about safety precautions - and it's obvious with the new variants that we're not out of the woods yet.
Not to mention the perennial problem of injuries sustained at international level.
Trent would spend most of his time sitting on his arse and running the inherent risks for little reward imo.

Trent is world class - he influences games from right back... Southgate may want to prioritise his own system but surely you have to include talents like Trent and get the best out of them. He's a match winner.

And there is the problem, you can't do that at international level because you can't hio and buy players to suit how you want to play, you have to find a way of getting the best out of the players you do have.

We all know that Southgate is a risk-averse coach. We also know that he is out of his depth. We’ll probably still play 3-5-2 ffs.

Exactly. It's just baffling how the media push the narrative that Trent is a liability defensively. He's not the best defensively but he's still solid combined with world class attacking output. He actually has a better tackle success rate than the AWB this season, who is supposedly the best defensive right back in the world ever according to some people.

Agreed. Trent's actually got the best defensive stats for us this season too.

Plus, Southgate plays wing backs, the defensive requirements are as high because you've got three CBs and at least one DM covering.

However, I'm happy for Trent to stay home.

Trent loves playing for England. That's a fact. I hope it has the effect of giving him more impetus when playing for us to show Southgate what he's missing.

he has been back to pretty good form the past 5 or 6 games.

If Mr brown paper bag wants more then **** him.

Excuse the language but if he brings james, trippier and walker that's his choice.

the reality of southgate's squad is the following:

    3421 or 433.

If its 3421 then mr brown paper bag has options but will end up sticking walker at RCB and james at RWB. then he's got what trippier as reserve?

If its 433 then he's got plenty of options at RB.

If we were guess a 26 man england squad:

    GK Pickford, henderson, Pope
    RB: Walker, Trippier James
LB: Chilwell, shaw (surely deserves it)
CBs: Stones, maguire, mings, Dier (doesn't deserve it imo)
No 6: Rice. Is short here. I half expect a half fit henderson to be thrown in.
Midfield: Mount, foden, ward prowse, phillips?
    LW: sterling, grealish? Rashford
CF: Kane, kane, kane, Calvert lewin?
    RW: Sancho saka?

    Lingard, Bellingham, trent, coady, bamford?

I reckon the keepers are final.
The guy would be mad to go with only 4 CBs, Coady is probably one of the extras.
then in midfield if anything its a bit unbalanced so I do expect henderson to go even if unfit. Phillips wil lgo and then bellingham might go if henderson is out.
In attack i put grealish in.

the issue with 26 man squad is this: do you take bellingham, bamford, coady as the last on as my list above is 25.

For me southgate won't bring 4 RBs. I already have him bringing 3. So its a direct choice between trippier, james and trent.

My guess at sthougates team is

    Pickford
    walker stones maguire chilwell
    ? Rice mount
    Sterling Kane Rashford

Tbh Trent would get into the current England team in midfield. What are the options? Kalvin Phillips or a half fit henderson and rice?

Assuming he wants to go, then I'm sad for him personally, but it's better for the club if he doesn't go, to give him a rest and help him avoid injury or Covid.

I don't know if Southgate doesn't rate him as such or just trusts other players more for his team. I can't remember Trent having an amazing game for England yet. And the other players can all ein at least one of La Liga, the Premier League and the Champions League this season.

For me I think the rumours are really leaks to get it out there and talked before southgate has to announce it.

Anyone taking trippier over trent deserves the sack

Theres a section of england scum fans that would take it badly if trent didnt fall.over backwards to be available when someone breaks down just before the tournament.

Imo england will end up with Walker suspended as his style.of bashing doesn't work well with international refs and will! Probably have dier in cm with ward prowse and wonder where did it all go wrong. Again.

hodgson has finally admitted to himself that jordan isn't giving him a new contract and has announced his retirement.

I hope he doesn't think he can have a swansong at anfield. His players should be thinking about the beach the best they can do is go up 2 spaces now. they really ought to just not trun up at anfield next weekend.

he should get out a red scarf and send out an u18 side in the final game and tell our fans this is the best he can do to make up for the 2010 debacle.

    :)
