Does it annoy you when people call the Premier League the Premiership ? How long ago is it since it was called that ?
Where's the poll? Yes it does annoy me. But I do find myself getting more easily annoyed the older I get.
No. I have no idea when it changed or why but it's the most minor and inconsequential change that I don't know why anyone would even acknowledge it. I wouldn't notice whichever way people say it.
Just wondered . It annoys me for some reason and I know it isn't really that important . Except that Hull City are actually in it and it's called the Premier League and it's really easy to remember
I just don't get it. I mean I call it the PL - I think. But why did it change? What the frig was the point in that? As if people didn't realise the Premiership was a league?
It was changed from the Premiership to the Barclays Premier League, when Barclays took over as sponsor in 2007.
I thought it changed to the Premiership around 94/95- ie When Carling took over sponsorship and brought out their brand of 'Carling Premier' "beer" in order to kickstart their cruise to dominance of commercialised ****e products. I think it remained as the Premiership for one season when Barclaycard took over sponsorship before a bit of sanity returned it to the Premier League. If a bit more sanity returns, it could even become Division 1 again, and then we could have Division 1 B-teams playing in Division 5.
Isn't your monika of PLT based on Premier League Team? Variables, on mood, could be PT, PST, or, perhaps, PMT? Hmmm , is PL so bad to remember, really . . .
Yes, massively. When I saw the subject header I actually came on to give you both barrels until I read the content. Strangely, lots of people in the media, managers and players use it. The sponsors must go mad. And I'll tell you what else annoys me - fans singing "you've never won fook all". That's a double negative, if "you've never won fook all you" must win something every season. Idiots.
i say premiership tho i type premier league - premiership is just easier off the tongue somehow - tho tbh i dont give a **** either way
Why though? Isn't it just like saying Coke instead of Coca-Cola? Do we have to use the full, correct, up-to-date name for every brand? Or better still, isn't it like saying City instead of Hull City Tigers Ltd.?
