Here we are 1 year on, this weekend marks the anniversary of no fans in the ground, personal view without fans the game is just a pale shadow of what it used to be.
This is also Bournemouth's first league visit since 16/2/2013 a match whic North End won 2-0 the thing that was special about this game was it was the first one after medal winner was potted, the atmosphere on the ground that day was up there with the best ever experienced, at the time the Cherries were wending their way up the league but that day were no match for John Dreyer's whites.
Thwe first time they played at Deepdale was also memorable they lost 5-2 Charlton scored two and Bournemouth had two sent off.

    LAST TIME OUT

BRISTOL CITY 1 AFC BOURNEMOUTH 2

Having potted Tindall the Cherries turned to Woodgate to hopefully steer them up into the top league presently in the last play off position they will present a tough proportion for our highly inconsistent side
They played a 433 system at Ashton Gate with our ex Ben Pearson in the midfield three. They had a fairly strong bench as well on Wednesday night able to bring on the likes of Billing.
The front three have scored nearly 30 goals between them, they can get a bit excitable, Lerma spent the entire afternoon against Watford winding up the opposition worked a treat.
Would have been interesting if fans had been in to see what reaction Ben would get after his non too complementary remarks about our old training ground

As for us still need a seven points at minimum to ensure safety the pressure still on Neil at the moment as some of the recent performance have been a little lacklustre but one thing that does mystify me is teh lack f substitutes can use five we used three on Tuesday with one coming on with a minute to go utterly pointless, some managers have been more savvy on this score can remember the Luton game after project restart Jones brought on three at the same time and it paid off seems at time the boss has little trust in some of those on the bench, odd really

Since our December victory over AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium there have been changes at both clubs.
For the Cherries, it has been a change of manager, with Jonathan Woodgate replacing Jason Tindall in the top job. Whilst for the Lilywhites it has been a turnover of players, with only Scott Sinclair starting the game at Millwall on Tuesday night who started – and scored – in the win at Bournemouth!

One of those changes, of course, saw Ben Pearson move from PNE down to the south coast club and he is set for his first return this weekend, having become a regular in the heart of Woodgate’s midfield in recent games.

The weekend’s visitors have not played a league game at Deepdale since February 2013, the first game after Graham Westley departed the club; John Dreyer leading the Lilywhites to a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Stuart Beavon and Bailey Wright. The current team will be looking for more of the same this weekend.
    Head To Head: PNE wins – 11; Draws – 6; AFC Bournemouth - 12

    Team News
Manager Alex Neil was without players for Tuesday’s trip to Millwall, skipper Alan Browne the latest addition to an extensive injury list.

He will hope to have some of those back and available for Saturday’s visit of the Cherries, with only Declan Rudd, Patrick Bauer and Louis Moult long-term absent from the squad.

Forward Sam Surridge is Jonathan Woodgate’s only injury concern, the young striker having a swollen toe that kept him out of Wednesday night’s win over Bristol City.

    Match Officials
Australian referee Jarred Gillett – who was the fourth official at Deepdale last week - will take charge of his fourth Preston North End game for Saturday’s match.

The Aussie joined the EFL lists in 2018/19, after taking up an educational position in Liverpool, but he has been a top-class official in his home country’s A League for many years.

He took charge of his first Championship game at the end of that season and joined the Select Group Two list in 2019/20. This season he has officiated 22 games, issuing 73 yellow and two red cards – three of those games have involved Bournemouth, with two wins at St Andrews against Coventry and Birmingham and a defeat at Brentford. Whilst he also refereed our game at Watford in November.

His first trip to Deepdale was over the last Christmas period when he took charge of our last game of 2019, against Reading, as well as the club’s 5,000th league game against Derby County back in July.

Jarred will be assisted by Philip Dermott and Nik Barnard, with experienced Championship official Jeremy Simpson acting as the fourth official.

Daniel Johnson's sixth goal of the season gave Preston a share of the points against play-off chasing Bournemouth.

The Cherries took a deserved lead when Dominic Solanke showed good strength before sliding a pass into Arnaut Danjuma who finished calmly.

The hosts levelled after the break when Johnson latched on to Steve Cook's poor clearance, advanced on goal and slotted home.

Both teams pushed for a winner, but Solanke shot straight at home goalkeeper Daniel Iversen and Ben Whiteman saw Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic turn his shot over the crossbar.
The nature of Preston's equaliser will annoy Bournemouth boss Jonathan Woodgate as defender Cook hurried a routine clearance, gifting the ball to Johnson who ran at goal almost unchallenged and slotted home from 18 yards.

The draw, coupled with Barnsley's win over Birmingham, saw the Cherries drop out of the top six and be replaced by the Tykes.

Woodgate's men host Barnsley, who are on a run of seven successive wins, next week while Preston will look to kick-start their own unlikely bid for a play-off place when they visit bottom side Wycombe.
