One of our big failings before was that we would play long balls up to the likes of Joelinton, playing up front, and they would never stick and the ball just came straight back, putting pressure on our defence. Wood holds it up much better and if he doesn't win it cleanly gives a foul away that gives us time to find our shape again. Its very rare now that you see their two centre backs stepping up with the ball into midfield. He has had two games now and is playing a style that is very different to that at his previous club (fortunately). Give him time, I think he will be a good buy. It is clear that we are only every going to have Wilson for at most 50% of the games so he provides a great alternative and they may actually work quite well together.
We have been complaining no one holds it up for years now, we find someone and people find another aspect of his game to complain about. The man is a good addition.
