HT. 0-0. Quite a drab affair. PSV have had two goals disallowed for offside (they were both clearly offside too) so I’m not sure why they’re whinging at the officials for…getting the right decision? Anyway, we’ve had a couple of promising moments (Odegaard and Martinelli should have done better with their chances), but we’ve been playing at a very slow pace, little intensity, passing has been a bit sloppy and there’s not much fluency in our game. Players have been a bit static too. Much needed improvement in the second half please.
Also, I really want to believe Lokonga will come good, because he’s got the attributes to be a very useful player for us, but he needs to be playing with more purpose during the minutes he’s getting. He’s far too languid and plays a ‘safe’ pass too much. He has to be a bit more penetrative and dictate the tempo more. If we get a new midfielder in January, he will slide down the pecking order.
1-0, PSV. Veerman. It’s been coming. They’ve been all over us since the restart and we’ve just not got clicking at all. The decline in our performances since the Liverpool game is becoming a huge worry.
2-0. De Jong from a corner. Ramsdale in no-man’s land. This has been a real shocker of a performance from start to finish.
FT. 2-0. Could have been more, should have been more. I can’t think of one player that played well tonight. People are suggesting it’s fatigue, but I don’t accept that, as we’ve rotated a lot and we’re only 15/16 games into the season. We need to win against Zurich on MD6, but importantly, we need to beat Forest at home this weekend. I’m becoming extremely concerned about our displays of late, and we need to sort it out before it becomes a huge issue.
Totally agree. Let's hope the Southampton result wasn't the start of a poor run. We should be scoring more but in all honesty we still don't have an out and out striker. Jesus is on a barren run at the moment but he has never been a main striker Nketiah isn't the answer as he proved again tonight.
That's three games in a row we've been sub par. Hopefully Arteta can get right the ship quickly. Still not convinced of Nketiah. Lokonga was awful as well.
