Can anyone recomend a nice pub that does good quality pies and steaks? I know on here will be the place to ask as many of you seem to like your food
Blacksmiths Arms at Coniston, best Steak and ale pies ever, they also do fillet, ribeye, etc steak but I can never bring myself not to order the pie. Thank me later, you’ll absolutely love the place.
Spot on. Go there regularly, always best to book. Only downside is they only have Great Newsome on draught at the moment and not always guaranteed to be on.
See the food is great, but I ordered a rare steak and it came out on a sizzling slate. By the time everything had come, the slate had cooked the steak medium well. They should have offered a plate. Delicious, but annoying. For pie, Sailmakers in Hull’s Old Town do a very good pie. Lots of different flavours too. For steak, I used to go to Crown and Anchor at Tickton, but it’s been shut for a while. So my pick would be The Star at Sancton.
The pie has to be a proper pie in short crust pastry not in a pot with just a pastry top. It won't be Duke of York I'm not a big fan sometimes great sometimes poor
I went just before Christmas and it was fantastic. I'd been a year before and I didn't rate it at all, but had a lovely plate of food. That being said, I wasn't paying, so...
Just had a great steak and kidney at the Feathers in Helmsley, but I guess that doesn't count. Still enjoyed it though!
