    An orange carrot (as opposed to the then more common white and purple varieties).

    Fortunate that William of Orange was not a fan of the cucumber...

    I was once persuaded to join my cricket club's winter Sports Quiz team which participated in a quiz league. I should have known. Our opponents that freezing evening were L*t*n Town Cricket Club. They were represented by four scruffy, beardy blokes in anoraks who had surely never been anywhere near a cricket pitch in their lives. However, each of them seemed to know which horse came 7th in the 1923 Derby (and what it had eaten for breakfast) and how tall the leading amateur golfer was in the 1954 Open. I failed to answer a single question all evening and could not pick the lock on the door into the bar either. Needless to say it was both the beginning and end of my Sports Quiz career...

    Five independent countries have the Southern Cross in their national flag. Four of these have a Pacific coastline. Name the one that doesn't. (This is not a trick question).

    While Brag is thinking up his question here's another one, out of turn but just to keep it rolling.
    In old cockney expressions for money if you start off with a monkey, add a string of ponies, take a Lady Godiva away along with 2 apples and then add a pavarotti and a poorly fish how much money do you have at the end ?

    Yay! My question is;

    Which of these is the odd one out. And why?

    Tartan, whisky, haggis, porridge, bagpipes, kilts and chicken tikka masala.

    Chicken tikka masala - it's probably the only one to have originated in Scotland. :)
