All yours Dave. Taken from the golden era when Peter Gabriel was with them. Unfortunately I had a close encounter with this plant a few years back when we had a community action removing a lot of it from the local river bank - never again ! I still had the marks of it 6 months later. Over to you.

    Thanks cologne

A children's club was formed in 1935 and was sponsored by a manufacturer. What was it called?

    Correct spelling please

Going by the date, that could very well be the League of Ovaltineys.

I didn't expect it to be answered quite so quickly and good to see that you avoided Ovalteenies which were the sweet tablets made from Ovaltine

    All yours

Great question. I only knew of the song, didn't know it was a club. I always thought of it as a jingle.

It helped that my mum was a member - and dad regularly teased her about it. :)

In which battle did an army fight against itself and lose. And why?

Is this the Battle of Karánsebes, where a fight over alcohol led to a misunderstanding and a massive friendly fire incident? Which left Ottomans to seize the city.

It certainly was. An estimated 10,000 Austrians dead or injured at their own army's hands after cavalry & infantry started fighting over booze - and the other 90,000 or so fled the scene thinking the Ottomans were attacking. Which they did two days later, only to find no resistance.

    Over to you.

    Thanks, BB. <ok>
Sorry for the delay, poorly brother-in-law just out of hospital on his birthday, so we've been visiting.

Which former Watford striker was going to join Udinese in 1989, met Mr Pozzo Snr, but on holiday read in a newspaper that he'd failed the medical?

    No, Barry.

If everyone gets really stuck, put down your striker and where the holiday was. I'll guide you N,E,S,W towards it. If I'd written where the holiday was you'd all have had it straightaway.

So let's say Iwan Roberts holidayed in Bangor. The holiday was east of there.

    Malcolm Allen?

Was the player a Watford player at the time, or already a former Watford player?

Give ma a break! Malcolm Allen was born in 1967- how old do you have to be to play for the Pozzo's?

Er - currently anywhere between 20 and 36. In 1989 Allen would have been 22...

Not Prisken, no. East of Hungary if that were to be the holiday.

    Not Allen, no.

Not a Watford player yet at the time. Nickname sounds a bit like he was associated with a certain record company - but he wasn't.

Ah my profound apologies. I had only thought of the period after the Pozzo's bought WFC. I knew they owned Udinese for 25(?) years-didn't read the question properly. Doh!
