This was their first game back in around three months, and so naturally they needed a drinks break, toilet break, snack break and the chance to have unlimited subs so long as you do them at the right time. I'm surprised they haven't suggested scramble goalies too. I go by the same rules when I play football with my five and two year old. To be serious, it seemed to be all a bit ridiculous today, after such a long break, but when we get to the fifth and sixth game in the month of July, it should seem more reasonable.
Well, at least the club shouldn't have to bother trying to keep Amos or Hugill when the season finally finishes. Amos continued where he left off with his now legendary negativity and was quite rightly subbed at half time (44 minutes too late for me). Hugill at least is a trier, but it's hard to explain such a complete lack of goal instinct in a centre-forward. We looked a lot better with both Shodipo and Bright playing wide in the second half but somehow contrived to never find a hooped shirt in the box. Back to drawing board for Warburton.
Just seen their goal now, terrible defending then gave them the game. Though we were better 2nd half we never looked like scoring. Sub standard performances from everyone other than Shodipo and Kelly maybe. Amos and Hugill didnt have their best games but for me Manning and Chair were the stand outs for bad games - Manning was at least involved.
At least QPR+ viewing was good & easy to connect, the game itself well you saw it yourselves not much I can comment on
Kiwi, a team is allowed 5 subs, but can only stop play three times. A half time sub is not stopping play.
Just had to explain to the wife that prior to lockdown we were the form team in the division and had an outside chance of promotion, now probably not. She was surprised, noting that we are usually trying to avoid relegation. Oh, I responded, we still have the ability to get involved in that too.
So, we lose at home to the bottom team in the division. What a relief I didn't have to travel up from Somerset to see that. Will I bother to do so next season, especially with BOS and Eze, our two flair players, gone? I don't know, I really don't know. Time to have a break, perhaps.
Well that was a pretty poor watch. Amos was ****ing ****e. There is no way he will ever get in that spurs side ahead of winks and sissoko. We need a striker that moves past a defender rather than just trying to hold the ball up. Hugill works hard but he needs a partner to play off him. Samuel would be my choice. Rangel was one of Barnsleys best players in the 1st half. After watching that, I'm glad the season is nearly done.
You'll be back....as will I I just have a feeling of detachment from football at the moment - I would've been quite happy for the season to have been wound up on a (for example) points per game basis given we can't physically attend the rest of the season

Given that Warburton didn’t want to play you could see this coming. How do you motivate a team when you’re on record as not wanting to be there in the first place?
