They are only two points off sixth place, and a playoff place, so they still have a lot to play for. They'll be keen to get back on track after a 5-1 loss against Boro on Saturday, a game in which they conceded four goals in a short space of time, either side of half time (41, 43, 45+6 and 49). Their top scorer is Joshua Sargent with 12 goals, with Teemu Pukki not far behind with 10. So, I'll be honest...been a busy few days and I've only just had time to sit and watch the highlights from Saturday. What the hell happened there. First goal came as a result of three of our players getting in a muddle on the half way line, a decent free kick from Chair and a good effort from Field, both saved, penalty appeal not given, then Seny can't hold or parry the ball away and it was 2, then heads are down and then ball given away and they can pass through and tap in for 3. Leaves us two places and a point from the drop zone, and understandable boos at the final whistle. Four massive games coming up now, hard to know what can be done other than getting 100% behind the team, cheering them on and trying to intimidate Norwich City and Bristol City, the two teams who are yet to visit Loftus Road. Can't quite believe we are going into the final four games of the season, we can debate how it has gone so badly until the sun goes down, but got four games to ensure the worst case scenario doesn't become a reality. Team News QPR: Jake Clarke-Salter and Tim Iroegbunam could return but Ossie Kakay and Sinclair Armstrong miss out. Norwich City: Kieran Dowell, Ben Gibson and Kenny McLean are out, but Isaac Hayden may return. Pre-match Talk Gareth Ainsworth (QPR head coach): “There are four defining games coming up for us now and we need to make sure that we are in every single one of them. “We have to make sure we are more solid because I want to stay in the Championship and I want to build for next season. With my own stamp on this place I know what we can achieve. “it is about us and our resolve.” David Wagner (Norwich Manager): “”It’s a big game for both teams for different reasons. We are used to a direct style which they play under their new manager. “We’ve faced a comparable style so we know what to expect. “We are excited, it’s great to be playing for something at this stage of the season. We would love a lot more points but playing for something, we’ll take it on.” Only thing we can do is get behind the team and shout as loud as possible... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
With a level of masochism I had hitherto not detected in myself, I’m going. With absolutely zero expectation of improvement. How stupid is that? It gets worse. My sadistic streak has also emerged as I’ve convinced my son to come to the Bristol City game. He now very rarely comes as he very rarely sees us win, and thinks he is cursed (along with the rest of us I try and tell him) but I’ve told him it’ll either be a party because we’ll already be safe, a wake because we’ll already be down or a really historic important match. What a crock of ****. This probably qualifies as child abuse, even though he’s 27. Cheers Dave.
My lad's 25 Stan and keeps asking me 'Why dad why? Why weren't you born in North London?' Norwich When I hear that word the theme tune to Jaws echoes in my mind. We all know it won't end well
I'd suggest the club don't hold a player of the year this season....Jude the Cat would be getting my vote!
Just seen Ned on MOTD saying if the Leeds fans really get behind their team against Liverpool tomorrow they will make it difficult for the visitors. Made me think that if we make Loftus Road a cauldron on Wednesday, like we did against Liverpool for the 3-2 win a lifetime ago or against Wigan in the play off semi final…..it will probably make no difference at all with this lot.
Sam McCallum - he's been in and out of their team this year. After a few years on loan this is his first real "breakthrough" season with them. Not sure if he's scored for them yet...
I see Bristol City at Watford on Saturday, good possession play out from the back..but had no teeth up front at all,.Wells didn't get a sniff and was pretty much ineffective the whole match. So I'm expecting us to get well beat with Wells getting at least a brace
Chris Martin and Dykes seem too similar in their style of play and can’t play together in my opinion. GAs team selection is going to be key this match and unfortunately I don’t think he has a clear vision of who to play and in what formation.
