Is it officially a classified as a cup run already? If not...getting to the quarter finals surely is. A win tonight again League 1 Sunderland and we are there. That said, Sunderland are in good form, and won't be an easy opposition. Their top scorer is Ross Stewart, with 9 goals then Aiden O'Brien with 5 and Carl Winchester with 3. They have scored a total of 24 in 13 league goals, and currently sit 4th in League 1. As for us, we'll be looking to bounce back from a very disappointing loss at Peterborough on Saturday. This loss saw us slip out of the playoffs...but who cares about league form going into this evening...this is the cup...and we have a chance to get to the quarter finals for the first time, as SooperHoop has posted below, since the 1988/89 season. I remember that quarter final well. It was a significant time in my life. I was about to start nursery in Perivale and be exposed to Chelsea fans for the first time in my life. It was a long time ago. Team news up when it goes on the official (and there I was thinking I was late with the match preview!) A lot of excitement about the possibility of a Quarter final...and then who know...enjoy those who'll make it and as always...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Cheers Dave. This match is assuming huge importance in my eyes. Win this and we are a couple of games from Wembley……
We can hope. But Squad size and quality plus fixtures played in the same concentrated periods make it difficult.
We all would, but seriously can we really hope for more than a play off place (which is still totally attainable). Let's get to a quarter final of a cup, God its been long enough. Who knows what might happen if we get there, yeah we'll probably draw City or scum but who knows ? Dare to dream
Didn't for the Everton game, however hesgoal.com had a decent stream, although guess Sunderland not going to have the same pull as Everton for streaming purposes
Will you be expecting to play many/any first team players for this one? We are expecting just to give more game time to our youth players for this fixture. We'll have 3 or 4 first team players at the most and that's a stretch, we might not have any.
Would expect him to play a strong team, Amos and De Wijs will probably start and maybe Odebajo. If Kakay , Thomas and Dozell play then get ready to celebrate !
I think we'll play a reasonably strong team if our last round against Everton is anything to go by. Can't remember the last time we were in the quarters of any cup so this is a reasonably big deal for us. Hoping Warburton thinks the same. Surprised you lot aren't taking it more seriously - win this and then only one more win for Wembley isn't it? Edit - just realised it's the FA cup semis that are at Wembley now. League cup semis still home or away. Still excited.
The league is our only priority, this season. We are using the cup competitions to give first team experience to our U23's. They're doing well but if you put a strong team out this could be a step to far for them. I wouldn't totally right them off, though. They play some very decent football.
I agree except possibly the tired looking performance against Posh and the Forest game already on Friday evening, may push Warburton to rest more than if we'd been coming off a good win. Think Jordi could be back for Dunne or even Dickie. He was talking about McCallum's hamstring being tight so he could well be rested as well as Albert who after 2 almost full games is likely to be. Could see Kakay and Moses as the WB's. Willock missed most of Posh and could also play WB again, though more likely he will be used in his normal position further forward instead of Chair or one of the strikers depending on who needs a rest most and how many strikers he wants to play.
Suspect it will be something like: Dieng Dickie, De Wijs, Barbet Kakay, Amos, Johansen, Chair, McCallum Dykes, Willock If they are playing a majority of U23's then that side should be good enough to progress.......
no, the rights are sold and not included in qpr+ very annoying when the next 8 games are all on sky too
