The PGA Tour moves on regardless of me missing out on watching or playing on it and has now sprung up a new tournament name but definitely not a new golf course.

Welcome to the Congressional golf course, Bethesda in Maryland, one which all Rory McIlroy fans will remember with much fun as this is the course where he smashed the opposition into smithereens to win the US Open back in 2011. This was the AT & T National for the previous 7 years until this year where we have the new sponsors name of Quicken Loans to pay for it.

Past winners line up as Bill Haas, last year, Tiger, who won in 2012 and 2009 and for who makes his come back onto the Tour after his back surgery. Nick Watney won the 2011 edition of this title but it was on a different course than this, then our very own Justin Rose took the honours in 2010. Anthony Kim in 2008 and KJ Choi the inaugural winner in 2007 make the line up of past winners...

Its a long course, they are using the Blue Course for this weeks event, sits at the 2nd longest on the Tour at 7,569 yards for its 71 shot par. Even with the long distance to overcome the players will be trying to beat the 2nd most challenging par 71 on the Tour in 2013 as well. The Blue course averaged 1.124 strokes over par and boasted the second-hardest set of par 5s all season, so good luck if your not the biggest of hitters this week...!!! The Blue Course's trio of par 5's the 6th, 9th and 16th came out with a 4.92 score average last year so they don't give up many easy shots...

So long and longer is what ive plumped for this week...

Ryan Palmer is the one im sticking with for now this year but his stats do fit the length of this course well... 25th for Total Driving Average at 298.9 yards and 15th for GIR for +200 yards... Usual thing, get his putter working he will figure come Sunday...

J.B Holmes ranks 4th for Total Driving Distance at 306.6 yards and has a solo 5th to his name here back in 2010...

Charles Howell III sits T18th for Total Driving Average at 301.5 yards plus he is another with good stats in the GIR from +175 yards out...

Robert Garrigus hit's it miles and miles when he is on form, sits 5th in the rankings for Total Driving Average on 305.0 yards plus has good stats from 175 yards out when looking to hit the greens from his drives... Finished 4th in the US Open behind Rory in 2011, which was at this course, plus he has a T4th finish in 2012 when a certain Tiger Woods won here...

    Ryan Palmer @ 50/1...
    JB Holmes @ 66/1...
    Charles Howell III @ 66/1...
    Robert Garrigus @ 80/1...

All done in the usual £2.50 e/w... PadPow pays 1/4 odds top 6...
    <cheers>

Bethesda isn't giving too much up to the field with only 26 players currently under par, but we have a bit to go yet for the ones sat around 6-8 shots back from our leader... All still to play for...<ok>

Off Topic from the Golf your buddy Joe Perry Is on fire again at the Wuxi red <ok>, watching him smash Robin Hull here now, carrying his form through from last year, reinvented himself somewhat hasn't he? All that practise with Robertson is obviously driving him on or else he's got a bit on the side spurring him on :cheesy:

Great to see Tiger back and his +3 return was to be expected as he hasn't got much chance to play with the longer clubs as such, he should be coming right for the proper Open in a few weeks time now.

    Leaderboard after the 2nd round...

    Leader - Marc Leishman @ -6

    T7 - Morgan Hoffmann, -4
    T11 - Brendon de Jonge, -3
    T27 - Geoff Ogilvy, E
    T40 - Robert Garrigus, +1
    T40 - Seung-Yul Noh, +1
    T50 - Charles Howell III, +2
    T50 - J.B. Holmes, +2
    T50 - Ryan Palmer, +2
    CUT - Will MacKenzie

Amazing to see but there are still only 26 players under par after the 2nd round has been completed, and were all chasing Marc Leishman who sits at -6 under for his efforts... Still time to get back into the placings yet, though are picks are gonna have to start scoring a bit better now...

I see that Tiger missed the cut which was to be expected really and it may take a couple of comps to get back into that groove thing to see him break the top 10's again. But he's a class act and will deffo win something again soon...

STH, your right about Perry, and he has really come to the fore since he went to his new coach Stephen Feeney, he of the 'Sight Right' fame. There are a few of the players on the tour under his guidance but non have done as well as Joe...

    Leaderboard after the 3rd round...

    Leader - Patrick Reed @ -6

    T2 - Seung-Yul Noh, -4
    T5 - Brendon de Jonge, -3
    T21 - Robert Garrigus, E
    T32 - Ryan Palmer, +1
    T32 - J.B. Holmes, +1
    T32 - Geoff Ogilvy, +1
    T48 - Charles Howell III, +3
    T48 - Morgan Hoffmann, +3

Still proving a tough track to play on we only have the 20 players currently under par, with Patrick Reed holding sway over the field sat at -6. He shot a level par round yesterday and so may feel a little bit disappointed that he hasn't got a bigger lead, but the chance of anyone shooting a round like Marc Leishman did last week, 7 birdies in a row, are going to be very very slim...

Smokin has two picks in the top 5 so it looks like we'll be cheering him on for a slice of the e/w money and possibly out right...<ok>

    Hey Red

Already looking like a smidgen of profit today courtesy of Dyson and Jaidee both placing in the BMW Int.

I really like the chances of my 2 tonight. Brendon playing well, and Noh needs to take last nights round into today and keep up the good round.

I know I talk about him all the time but Ogilvy is so so freekin' annoying. Had the best GIR% of the whole field yesterday but actually spent half of his shots on the putting surface. SGP of +2.2 says it all really.

Come on Noh and Fat De Jonge

    Leaderboard after the final round...

Winner - Justin Rose in a play-off with Shawn Stefani, won on the first extra hole...

    T8 - Brendon de Jonge, -1
    T11 - Robert Garrigus, E
    T30 - Seung-Yul Noh, +4
    T46 - Charles Howell III, +6
    T55 - Geoff Ogilvy, +7
    T55 - J.B. Holmes, +7
    T55 - Ryan Palmer, +7
    T71 - Morgan Hoffmann, +10

So in the end only 10 players managed to break par for their 4 rounds of golf showing how difficult that this course can be, and also putting to rest any chance of anyone coming out of the pack with a 65 to leap the rest. This was the case with Rose who was one of only 6 players to record a sub par round on the last day, Andres Romero shot the best round of the day with a 68, -3 under par score...

All the rest fell away by the way side... Never mind, we always have the next event to look out for...<ok>

Yul Noh has had a shocker! Very talented player who will most certainly be a big winner but that may well have set him back a bit.
