    Hi guys,

After she has read this thread, I have had the following from Janet, Steve's wife and she asked if i could post...

I think a LU tribute would be exactly what he would have wanted. Thank you all so much. Janet

Russ In reply to various questions He passed on Tuesday 5th Sept at home. He had MS which didn't cause death but didn't help. He had a heart attack brought on by a DVT probably caused after any one of his regular falls. I am going to do a Leeds tribute during his funeral because that was his no .1 love in life. I knew where I stood! Regards Janet.

Can we get on with deciding so what format the tribute should take? Perhaps take a quick poll at this stage to hurry things along

I personally think a lufc badge would be fitting. With a just giving page if there's any leftovers. That way with all the charity bets that go on, on here we can reuse and donate in Steves memory

Love the charity bets thing its almost like we should be starting our own "Dead Pool" <laugh> just on that my brother had Bruce Forsyth in his pubs dead pool, but it was 14 years ago and he changed it 10 years ago as he thought the old fooker would never go

Agreed. What we need is someone to take the bull by the horns here. Suggest this rough plan:

    1. Organiser: Find a suitable wreath, it's speed of delivery, & it's cost.
    2. Organiser: Get agreement to proceed from a few posters (not all - it'll take too long)
    3. Organiser: Request PMs from posters who wish to donate
    4. All: PM organiser for his bank details
    5. Organiser: Give bank account details to requesters by PM
    6. Organiser: Establish funeral date
    7. Organiser: Order & pay for wreath, specifying delivery address, date etc.
    8. Organiser/All: Agree charity for surplus donations
    9. Organiser: Post charity link for further donations (I'll take a guess that this might be it ... https://donate.mssociety.org.uk/ea-action/action?ea.client.id=1692&ea.campaign.id=54734
    10. All: Donate as you see fit & can afford, either to buy the wreath, or with the link above.
I would organise this myself, but honestly, I'm particularly pushed for time atm. As a last resort, I'll pick it up, but won't be happy. :D

Janet would very much like a wreath from us

I will be posting details of the service shortly. You will note that the general info is for family flowers only, however this doesn't include LUFC (!). If it is not being presumptuous I would very much like a wreath from the group if you feel you want to. It would be very fitting. It should be sent to Francis Chappell whose address will appear on the info in due course. Kind regards Janet Price

I've asked her to come back to me directly with the date and address

So we’re back to my original suggestion of a wreath. I’m glad.

There's obviously plenty of florists in Leeds offer this kind of tribute, but could we get them delivered, or would anyone be going to the funeral and could take, or do we need to find a florist nearer.

I'm not sure if i'm going to be able to make it down there, depends on when it is.

I don't want to say yes i could definitely take it and then find i couldn't and it was too close to the time to do anything about it.

    From Janet...

I now have details of Steve's funeral service and celebration of life. Monday 2nd October 2017 at 12:00 Midday. Beckenham Crematorium BR3 4TD By train: Charing Cross/Cannon Street to Elmers End.

Celebration of his life at The Greyhound, 4 Commonside, Keston BR2 6BP from approx 13:45. By train: Elmers End to Hayes, Kent (12 mins) then no. 246 bus Hayes BR (stop C) to The Fox/Heathfield Road, Keston. Parking available.

Everyone who would like to come is invited Steve would love to think that many of you would attend. For those that wish, some H3 gear is acceptable (within reason).

I hope this will be a real celebration of his life with laughter amongst the tears. Feel free to tell your stories - good and bad - maybe I'll learn something about that man of mine!

Family flowers only (plus one previously agreed), with donations to MS Society to be sent by cheque to Francis Chappel, 332 Crofton Road, Orpington BR6 8NW.

Thanks for all your kind regards. Janet.

    Morning all. <ok>

Beckenham crem is near to me and where both my mother and father in law's had their services.

Was down there about a month ago with my brother in the Steven Mears FD opposite the crem, arranging dad's headstone.
