Similar to what happened to him at Southampton...I didn't think he did too bad there, but there must be other issues aside from footballing reasons.
When has the mere fact that doing something would be stupid, stop a Football Board of Director's/Owner ? And it's possible that following the death of the owner, his successor might not like The Manager as much as his Father did.
The players ****in hate him. He asks them to play a rigid and mainly retaining style, it’s mourinho on a smaller scale. I’ve said to a few people this season ‘Leicester should be a cracking g side when you look man for man’. Player power he will go he’s negative and the players are naturally positive. Not a bad gaffer just a bad fit for the clubs. He was decent for Southampton as they didn’t have the ability in the squad, they ****ed up. Is Rafa much of an improvement? Nope.
Regardless, they’d be foolish to let him go. Rafa would offer exactly the same playing style as Puel. I’d accept a straight swap if it’s in the offing (Puel would no doubt have better offers sadly)
I agree, would almost be a like for like appointment. Facts are while Rafa isn’t given funds he will be linked with every job. I say and have always said I doubt very much losing him would have much impact on you lot anyway, he’s not any kind of genius. He’s done why’s expected and not a lot more.
Rafa has one thing going for him. He's popular with the Fans and at St James Park that pretty unusual. Over the past thirty years N/C have had about 17 'permanent' Managers. Apart from Rafa only Keagan and Sir Bobby have been popular with the Fans. (Chris Hughton got a neutral from most). For the rest, in most cases the '? OUT' banners were being prepared seconds after the announcement of their appointments had been made. I suppose an important point from Rafa's point of view is what will the new people want IF the takeover goes ahead. IF they want him to stay and IF they are going to throw vast amounts of cash into new players then he would no doubt want to stay. If the plan to sack him, either he leaves now if the Leicester job is offered or he waits for his pay off then gets another job.
Absolutely right - if Rafa wasn't carrying this massive reputation, the fans would've wanted him gone long ago. Football is dire, he's done exactly what Moyes did in stating they'd be struggling against relegation (although he's not done it after one game mind!). Stubborn as well with his selections. Shelvey's apparently good enough for England but not Newcastle!
They just prefer him to Ashley IMO. Also, is this the same Rafa who replaced Javi Alonso with Gareth Barry during his time at Anfield? Hardly a feather in the cap of creativity for that one
Did he? Did Gareth Barry even play for Liverpool!? I get what you're saying though. He's nothing special in terms of tactics. His philosophy at Newcastle is that he's making them difficult to beat and not very adventurous. Big Sam could do that too.
I can't really remember watching Allardyce's Newcastle but if they were anything like when he managed us then the style of play would have been much better than it is under Benitez. You've already said the reason that they **** on Sam and stick up for Rafa.
Possibly. It's also possible that because he has an impressive C.V, including -- Spanish Lge -twice. FA Cup Champions Lge Europa Lge All this makes him 'A Big Name Manager' and Our Friends to the North are of course a BIG CLUB and deserve a big name Manager.
It’s the cv. I think most fans are still shocked he is our manager! Despite what people think, he is a big name and above managing the likes of Newcastle (no matter how much I love and support them!)
