There have been a few sightings in Somerset recently so they are certainly getting around. A mate spotted one a few miles from where Chilco lives, unfortunately not a very clear photo

Wow, thanks for the heads-up, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for one of those! Will certainly give the local buzzards something to think about, not to mention the nesting crows which constantly mob any passing buzzard.

There’s a flooded quarry near there, Waterlip, which a sea eagle might find accommodating.

The eagles have travelled as far as the Scottish borders...apparently the females will probably leave, but the males will always consider the IOW area as their home.

Waterlip used to have loads of great crested newts in it back when I was a nipper. I wonder if they're still there? Haven't been walking that way for 20 odd years since I left Somerset

I am not sure where to append this post but I just wanted to make a note regarding the current series of "Line of Duty." I think that Buckles is under-cover AC12. He has been associated with all the other officers who have been under suspicion. There is no way that he is "H."

I totally agree with this. The hides are not very helpful at this reserve and it is difficult to see parts of the lake. Still, I think it is exceptional for birdwatching and never cease to be amazed what turns up. Fingers crossed, I will be able to see a Garden Warbler there this year. They are supposed to be common but I have never seen one yet. Last time I went i saw a Great White Egret and saw a cuckoo a few years ago.

Does anyone remember the water gardens / nursery in Romsey which used to be on the Test once you go last the abbey. I can remember it was a kid but believe it closed down over 40 years ago. I had fond memories of this place when I was very small.

There is no way that anyone as stupid as Buckles appears to be gets to be a DSU. He has to be a plant, either by AC12 or by the OCG. He did, however, get to utter the greatest line in any drama production of all time: “Total bastard bollocks” will live for ever.

Why don’t dinosaurs make good pets?

    Because they’re dead.

*not checked the thread, but I think it is relatively new.

It suits any number of applications and will crop up on different threads here and elsewhere. Also suits modification such as you TFBBC. Deserves a place in the profanasurus.

An 85-year-old man goes to see his doctor for his regular physical exam.

The doctor says that the man needs to provide a sperm sample and gives him a jar saying, “Take this jar home with you and come back tomorrow with a sperm sample.”

The next day the old man goes back to the doctors and gives him the jar, which is as clean and empty as when the doctor gave it to him.

So the doctor asks what happened and why there is no sperm sample in the jar.

The old man says, “Well, doc, it’s like this… first I tried with my right hand,
    but nothing.
Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing.

Then I asked my wife for help.
She tried with her right hand – nothing; then with her left, still nothing.
She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, still nothing.

We even called up Maisie, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezing it between her knees, but still nothing.”

The doctor is really shocked by all this and asks incredulously, “You asked your neighbour???”

The old man replies, “Yep, not one of us could get the jar open.”
