New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson has struck the fastest ever international century. He reached his 100 in the ODI match against West Indies in Queenstown today from 36 balls, breaking the record of 37 set by Pakistan's Shahid Afridi in 1996

Muarice Allom of England took four wickets in five balls, including a hat-trick, on his Test debut, against New Zealand in Christchurch 1929-30. He is one of the three bowlers to take four wickets in five balls in Tests - the others being Chris Old of England, against Pakistan in 1978, and Wasim Akram against West Indies in 1990-91

Since the beginning of 2000, teams batting first have won 217 Tests but lost 250, which goes against the bat-first philosophy that has always existed in cricket

Prasanna Jayawardene of Sri Lanka established the Test record for not conceding a bye while India scored 726 runs at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai in December 2009 - to be fair nothing beat the bat!!!

Brendan McCullum is the highest run scorer in International T20 with 1,959. Sri Lankans hold the next 3 places with Jayawardene (1,335), Dilshan (1,317) and Sangakkara (1,263).
KP is the top Englishman in 8th with 1,176. However his average of 37.93 is the highest of anyone in the top 20.

Mitchell Johnson's haul of 37 wickets in the Ashes series (at the phenomenal average of 13.97) equalled the record by a left-arm bowler in any Test series

    Lots of records here today
Brendon McCullum became the first New Zealander to score a Test triple century as his side drew the second Test with India to win the series 1-0.

The captain's 647-minute knock ended when he fell for 302 from 559 balls.

McCullum, 32, shared a Test-record sixth-wicket stand of 352 with wicketkeeper Brad Watling (124) as the hosts declared on 680-8 in Wellington.

That was the Kiwis' highest Test score and also a world-record total for a third innings in Test cricket.

Graeme Smith and Shivnarine Chanderpaul have hit 13 fifty-plus scores in the fourth innings of a Test - the highest by any batsman. Smith's four hundreds in the fourth innings of a Test also equal the most by any batsman.

The highest score for a batsman out lbw was when Zimbabwe's Dave Houghton was lbw (to Chaminda Vaas) after scoring 266 against Sri Lanka in Bulawayo in October 1994.
This is the joint 59th highest test score of all time

Alex Hales became the latest batsman to score a T20I century in a chase. South Africa's Richard Levi and New Zealand's Martin Guptill are the others to have hit hundreds in chases in T20Is. All three of them have come in wins. Overall, there have been 11 centuries in T20 internationals.

The chief duck-hunter in Tests is Glenn McGrath, who dismissed 104 batsmen without scoring during his 124-match career. Muttiah Muralitharan and Shane Warne are also in three figures - both inflicted 102 ducks; Wasim Akram and Courtney Walsh come next with 79

Ajantha Mendis is the only player to have taken 6 or more wickets in an innings in T20Is. He has achieved this feat twice - against Australia and Zimbabwe, in 2011 and 2012 respectively. Mendis has taken 4+ wickets in a match on 5 occasions, which is only second to Pakistan's Umar Gul who has done this 6 times.

Andy Ganteaume is the only player to have finished his Test career - all of one match - with a batting average better than Don Bradman. In his only match, Ganteaume played one innings and scored 112 while opening the batting, but never played again due to West Indies' formidable batting line up during that time. His career batting average is therefore 112, as opposed to Bradman's 99.94.
