Just bought a couple of tickets for the Birmingham v Rs game on 2 January. Only £15 full price and for 60 year olds plus £10! Getting old is great(ish). Of course I’ll have to pay a tenner for some kid to ‘mind the car’. It’s like stepping back into the seventies going to the Bluenoses or Villa.
I’ll be there with the boy, on the assumption that he has resurfaced from New Years Eve by the 2nd……I’ll be down for the next two home games as well. I’d love to do the Bournemouth game, but the late kick off time and lack of trains is putting me off.
Anybody know when Sky announce their Championship games for Jan/Feb next year? I have friends who would like to come to a game for some reason, but can only make Saturdays, and it’s hard to plan nowadays…..
Warburton said this morning that he's hoping Wallace isn't too bad. He felt tightness in his hamstring and was subbed as a precaution. He will be evaluated tomorrow and a scan will be done if deemed necessary. Hopefully it's not bad. Dykes is still doubtful fir the weekend, after a recurrence of his foot injury while training with Scotland . He's hoping he'll be available for the game after Stoke. I said it was a joke we let him go and join up with the Scotland squad, as he clearly wasn't fully fit then !
Ones I know are De Wyjs out til after Christmas with a calf problem I think. McCallum out for a while yet, next year too I think with a hamstring injury. Dykes could be out another week with his ankle injury. Wallace went off last night with tightness in his hamstring. Warburton hopeful it's nothing more, but not sure yet. The Physios didn't want Gray to play last night and to rest another week. Hopefully he didnt make whatever he has worse, he looked really sharp the 15 he played and what a goal, plus the one he smashed in given offside. Willock went off right at the end after a knock. Seemed ok. + Chair needs to sharpen up his finishing.in pressure situations!
Question for the old fuds amongst you: My dad recently turned 61. I just attempted to buy him an OAP ‘five ticket bundle’ at a bargain £80 but was rebuffed by the website saying he doesn’t qualify. Is this an error or are you technically not allowed to buy tickets with the old fud discount if you start the season as not an old fud?
You got it. It’s why I had to pay full price for an ST despite turning 60 last January. They are gradually raising the old git threshold to 65. Those of us who have only just turned 60 seem to be caught in a vortex of doom, never quite old enough to qualify until we are truly ancient. Though the youngsters who I sit with reckon the changes are staggered and I should qualify for the discount next season. When we are in the Prem! Oops, jinxed it.
It’s fair enough really. I feel immensely privileged to get 30% off train travel simply because of my age, while still holding down a job (sort of). It has improved my match day experience no end, enabling drinking, and now works out cheaper than driving. It was generous to set the discounts at 60 rather than even the old retirement age in the first place.
