Even though it doesn't make the body bigger? Seems harsh as the ball would have got stopped by the body regardless.
That would be a penalty now. The argument back then was that it was at point blank range and clearly wasn’t deliberate but that doesn’t matter now.
That would be in a natural position, it’s not making the body bigger and would have been blocked anyway.
I dont think protecting your balls or face is classed as a natural position but there appears to be a body of opinion which says that if it's instinctive it's not a penalty
What they’re working with is basically if the hand is outstretched or not. Tucked in > natural, outstretched > unnatural. There are a couple of situations that differ, such as supporting hand on the ground when falling. Just found the Malcolm penalty shout, should indeed have been a pen but considering Malc was the only one who appealed for it, and only a half arsed appeal at that, no other city players saw it so would have to assume the officials didn’t see it either. VAR would have given it though for sure.
Good - and I really don't want it, unless the way it is used is changed. It was supposed to highlight "Clear and Obvious" errors - not whether or not a player is a millimetre offside
Only, yeah, for being in such a mass marketed high profile industry that is bloated with money, and getting dogs abuse from thousands of fans up and down the country every weekend, you could take your 70k, roll it up rather tightly and shove it up your arse. **** that. Also having to put up with the players, managers and the journalists.
That might be what they are supposed to do but they seem to flag much later than they used to. I'm thinking of times when a forward is chasing a through ball and the lino doesn't raise his flag until he has touched the ball. (Even though he was in an offside position when the ball was played through)
Get a rugby union ref who knows about football to ref it and get the fa to fully support him And let all the other refs ref in the same way Would be ****ing brilliant and once he’s sent off half the ****s in the first half hour it would cure all the cheating and diving and intimidating refs
Prem refs dealing with the mass abuse while officiating multi millionaires eh 70k is very low considering the requirements to be able to be a prem ref Absolute specalist role
I'd rather be refereeing in a professional match which has protection than on a park pitch I wouldnt care about the abuse the top referees get I'd concentrate on being part of a sport I loved and getting reasonably well paid for it When I was 11 I used to go to East Park every Sunday morning and watch the games One day the referee didnt turn up and they asked me to be referee The players were fantastic with me and gave me a fortune at the end of the match as well!
You tend to find,if you do your job correctly, abuse is fairly infrequent? As for clogging up the sigmoid colon junction with used bank-notes?? I'll leave that one to 'Big Vern' when he makes his comeback
they are only offside if they are interfering with play before that they are only in an offside position which isnt an offence
I'm sure you are right but isn't it bizarre that a forward chasing a through ball could be deemed not interfering with play?
you have a point there do you remember that Man Utd goal a few weeks ago? was it a pass to Fernandes (in an offside position) and he didnt touch it but was very near it and followed the ball and Rashford burst in and shot and scored?
