They are also 6 places and 12 points above us, in 6th place. They are only two points ahead of 7th place, Bournemouth, and so they need to keep winning in order to maintain their playoff place. I reckon our playoff hopes are now all but non-existent, but Wednesday evening's performance shows that the players are clearly not done yet. To come back from 0-2 down to win was fantastic, and as was discussed on that match day thread, hasn't been done too often in recent times. Reading's main threat is obvious. Lucas João has 21 goals so far, with their next highest scorer, Meite, on 8 goals. Meite only returned from injury for the last game, but he came back and scored, so they obviously pose a threat going forward. After our great comeback last night, spirits have got to be high. Chair will be hoping to add to his 7 goals this season, and after his good work in aiding others, I'd love to see Dykes get a goal to reward his hard work. I'll add team news when it goes on the official, and others can add what they know, and enjoy one and all and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!!
Another game? Brilliant, I can hardly wait. Law of averages says it will be a draw. Or a win. Or perhaps a loss. Bring it on. Cheers Dave.
You're not fit to wear the Hoops! Over the years we've alternated with Reading, some years doing better and others not. Perhaps the low point being when we were both relegated on the last day from the PL which seemed to amuse Boswinga somewhat! At the moment they are doing better but we are improving. Just hoping we can keep the momentum going with a good result before the break.
They're doing well through creative accountancy, their wage bill 3 times their income a couple of years ago. No doubt a stadium sale or other such smoke & mirrors but the sh*t will hit the fan sooner or later. Derby and Sheff Wed teetering on the brink as well...
We're due a win at their place....... Saturday would be the perfect time followed by the senseless 2 week international break.......
Sorry to keep banging on about this but I was gagging for Villa to go down last year. Nothing particularly against Villa ( apart from he who should not be named) but just to see how a 'big' club was treated by FFP amd whether that would give our owners grounds for a complaint or further appeal. It still irritates me that we're the only ones so badly punished.
They changed the rules the season after we went up, that was the basis of our case against them, that it was disproportionate and the change to lower fines/deductions should have been used. We were the fall guys, simple as. Derby, Sheff Wed, Forest and Reading are all way over in reality, their accountants are trying to work out how to keep the losses down and some are months late filing them. Relegation for any of them could be fatal...
I just hope, that I miss this game in the same way I missed the Millwall game with the same result. Security alarm was set off in our new building. I have a set of keys to the site and the security team called me to check that nothing had been taken. The security company are not that local (neither am I - over 50 mins away) so I spent a lovely evening checking that the building was empty before alarms reset. Coming back to see a 3-2 win was good, not realising we were 2 down at half time, coming back to win made it better. Would love to see...sorry read about a decent win against the fakes.
I know each year I say we need to beat the fakes but this year would be a bonus. As I previously said the last time we played them (lost 1-0 at HQ) I listened to the local Reading station for commentary. I thought we were playing Barcelona! With quotes of “we should be beating teams like QPR”. Their fans were saying they were going to ‘pi$$ the league’. To knock them out of the play offs or to dent their position would make my day. deluded muppets.
I have something I need to share with the group. One of my best mates is a Reading season ticket holder. There, I've said it now. I feel better being honest with you all. Please dont judge me.
Such a soul-destroying place to go every other week to watch football. I’d rather watch us in League Two at Loftus Road than in the Prem playing on an industrial estate miles from anything.
I've been there Stick, hang in there. Worked with a guy for a few years in the late 2000's...really nice guy, became mates...then found out his great uncle is John Madejski. We remained friends...but only just.
