    Hart looks sharp
Shaw looks like a star in the making
Stones is already better than the standards around him
Wilshere is beginning to fill the gap left by Gascoigne
Sterling always has potential to explode (in a good way)

But the number one reason to be hopeful is -
Kane is looking like the real deal. The way he stroked home the goals against San Marino and Switzerland had class stamped all over them, and if he gets lady luck on his side with injuries I can see him smashing Rooney's record in double quick time. Plus I can see him doing something that Rooney has never managed - getting a hat full in the tournament real.

Worries that have not gone away are
right-back where Kline is a little shaky
the partner for Stones in central defence
a world-class destroyer to sit alongside Wilshere
the iffy form of Barkley, who has yet to catch fire
the supposed reluctance of Hodgson to rest the old guard, which means Rooney.
The stubborn nature of Hodgson to change tactics to suit the players he has
