With the season drawing to a close and the title race certain to be over it looks like there will be 7 or 8 teams fighting to stay in the division, as it stands everyone from Southampton down are not safe yet so who do you guys think will be the 3 for the drop.

    my 3 are:

    Reading
    Wigan
    Villa

Ive just got a feeling QPR will beat Wigan and then go on a good run and climb up the league, Wigan have an FA cup semi final to look forward too which will distract them and have 5 tough away games to play, and Reading and Villa I don't think have good enough squads bar a few players to survive. The likes of Norwich and Stoke have been in terrible form this year but will get a couple of home wins each and a few points on the road to stay up, Sunderland have a tough run in on paper but I think they will just stay up and what can you say about the saints, home wins against City, Liverpool and Chelsea should give them the confidence to end the season on a high.

I think QPR will finish bottom. They don't have the team spirit to fight relegation in my opinion.

I think Reading will also go down with Wigan <ok>

I hope QPR do go down after the last game of the season last year <grr>

QPR & Reading are already doomed imo.

The remaining place could go right to the last second of the last game....Wigan's last game is at home to Villa!

I'm hoping Villa, but my head is telling me that this is the year Wigan's luck runs out.

Agree - can't see them making up a seven point gap in seven games when they aren't even averaging a point per game at the moment.

I think Sunderland are the other most likely candidates. Wigan and Villa have picked up some points and played pretty well in the last few games, but Sunderland have just been poor. It's been a good couple of months since they even put up a good fight in a game, and now Fletcher's gone for the season I don't reckon they'll score many.

Di Canio may get them playing with a bit of pride and passion, but he may just piss off the players, who already don't look like they care if the club stays up or not. I think they'll pick up a couple of points against Newcastle and Everton, but will then lose to Villa, drop into the bottom three and not get out again.

Sunderland are definitely in the mix, but as much as I think he's a disaster in waiting, Di Canio will give the entire club a lift, the fans will be fired up & I think they've got enough quality in their ranks to find the couple of pieces of brilliance that will see them home.

It does all depend on Di Canio. If he gets the players showing some passion and fight then they'll be fine. If he gets them sulking and angry they'll be ****ed. Would be quite funny if all three relegated teams were ones that made knee jerk managerial changes in an effort to avoid the drop.

Indeed, but the Stoke shout is a cracker, there should be a bank holiday if they bomb out along with Villa.

I think Wigan will beat the drop. Much rather see Sunderland or Villa go down.

This, even though Fabio is on loan there and Park is at loftus road as well, take Sunderland with them as well.

With two other teams almost fixed to go down, I'd like Sunderland to go down as well, for the playing the most direst of the dire football. Well if the fascist, maybe racist manager can change that, then I'll change my opinion. I think highly of both Lambert and Martinez and thus, either of Stoke or Norwich then.

yes .. i did .. it was a guess without knowing the matches remaining for each team
this is why i listed them above and changed my prediction based on remaining matches ..
and if you fail to beat WBA or Reading, you will be going down .. but i assume you will win those 2 matches, so you are safe

Southampton are pretty much officially safe now then. I'm glad, i like their style of football. Reading clearly didn't have the squad for this level.

As for the others QPR need a miracle, so that leaves 6 teams battling to avoid the final spot. As for which one it will be i'm going for the boring choice of them team currently there, Villa. Wigan are already showing houdini late season form again, and the others just have an edge on quality IMO.

Reading are down now. QPR need a miracle, would have to win 5 of there last 7, not going to happen. Of the others I can see Sunderland joining them, I think Di Canio was a bad appointment, there's to much controversy surrounding him
