Beating Barnsley today hopefully ensured we are only worrying about the third spot. We are only four points away from Wigan. However, the next two games see us away with Wigan, Stoke and Huddersfield's next two games all at home. Let us all enjoy the moment.
I still think we will be relegated. Public opinion is mounting to continue the season and disrupt the 20/21 season, I agree with this. Relegation will be a shame for certain fairweather fans who do not want to go to the likes of Accrington and Rotherham next season.
We won't be relegated - well, not because of our league position anyway... They will eventually have to call the 2019-20 season null and void, and expunge all the results. Thousands of contracts are up on 30th June. That legal nightmare isn't just going to go away. And if the Prem or the EFL try to promote & relegate teams based on the current standings, again the lawyers will have an absolute field day. The least legally nightmarish solution is to null & void, then play the season over again - just call it Season 2020-21. Our main problems will be Only having about 6 players, plus kids. Having no money to even pay the bills or wages. Getting kicked out of the league like Bury. My ST money is not going to Roland as rent, or to Southall or Nimer. It's staying in my pocket.
I agree that the stumbling block on this season is the player's contracts expiring. I think this will be overcome somehow, how, I do not have the answer. An idea, could the contracts be extended until the season finishes?
I think we should skip to the inevitable. Liquidate CAFC and rename it AFC Charlton. Charlton grounds with Dulwich. Job done!!
@I8clowntown, hello Charlton 2 filth 2 "We sent the palice down" 15th May 2005 will never be forgotten.
iiiiiit's SATURDAY! Back in the day - a trip across London to see my folks, going to the game (if Charlton were at home), battling home through heavy London traffic Now - Grim supermarket shopping expedition (long queue, suppressing the occasional urge to cough, being wary of everyone and everything around you) No family visit, no football Keep Calm, Carry on...
