So it has been agreed that an employer can ban all visibly religious symbols in the workplace. I've read a few opinions on twitter about how this is discrimination aimed at Muslim women and head scarfs, but personally I think religion should be left out of the workplace. I'm not religious in any way, I take most people for who they are and not what they believe in, much like sexual orientation. I'm of the opinion people can do what ever they want in the privacy of their own homes (within reason, like murder and other sick stuff).

I think a blanket ban for all religions is the only fair no discriminatory way of looking at it legally, If you start making exceptions it would start all kinds of arguments.

    What are other peoples opinions?

Religion should only be in someone's house, should be banned everywhere else.

Another super point for the NOT606 Manifesto.

I think an Adolf hitler style regime is needed to eradicate all religions personally! There's no excuse for being so thick as to believe any of them .

Don't think you should be able to teach religion to kids until the age of 15+ when they are semi-capable of formulating their own idea's.

Agreed though if you want to believe in a fairy man in the sky, that's fine by me but do it in your own time...

Live and let live for me. I don't care what religious symbol you choose to exhibit. If your religion gives you comfort or whatever then so be it. All this focus on headscarfs/burkas seems a bit scaremongery to me. I prefer the old fashioned way of being able to see someones face and the beauty of being able to interpret their different expressions. Its an intricacy of the human body at the end of the day. However if somebody wants to wear one because they believe in some religion which encourages it/dictates it, I'm not gonna whinge about it.

Personally I find it hilarious in this day and age with all the information available to us, that people still believe in this religious stuff. Its pretty much stone cold crazy if you ask me and goes beyond any kind of logical thinking. I just don't feel the need to drag billions of people kicking and screaming out of such dated thinking. Let them be.

The only thing I would say is I do believe we have reached a point in our development as a species where these long held ideals/beliefs are now beginning to hold us back. We spend so much time at war and wasting precious energy/time discussing differences in beliefs etc. It also acts as a vehicle for the fruit loops among us to act up. Think what those billions of people could achieve if they focused the energy they waste on something make believe, onto something more productive.

    Religion is out dated now.
We've evolved as a human race so should switch to a science based system of beliefs like on Start Trek.
Remember.. when the main religions were founded people thought the earth was flat and Sunderland were a well supported team.

I hope the proposed forum ban on religion doesn't extend to me religiously masturbating.

Religion is fiction and those that believe in an almighty god and allow that belief to dictate their actions are a danger to the human race. Religion is the root of most of the evil in the world and needs to be stamped out.

Not all religion is bad, I have started my own religion and me and my followers are going to settle in Belize, all I ask is that all followers be women, all clothes be destroyed and that all money be transferred into my account. There are several other stipulations, but I will go through the finer details when we arrive at our sacred place and worship me! Also worth noting that this is no way a cult or to ever be compared with a cult.

Let me know if any of your wives are interested (only the hot ones)

Good, so my shadow-y cabinet is coming together nicely.

Can't remember the quote verbatim but it goes something like "evil men will always commit evil acts, but religion makes good men evil."

Fits nicely into how we should be governing the world. 10 points to win YOUR vote.

    1) Economy. Tax will be flat. 15%. For everyone. End of. By recent estimates, that would add around £5bn back into the economy.
    2) Healthcare. National Insurance is OPTIONAL. at 3%. You pay it, you don't. If you don't, healthcare ain't free. Oh, and NHS is only free for UK taxpayers and those on my reformed social care.
    3) Childcare will be entirely free. That's from 1 year old. Statutory maternity is 1 year.
    4) Social care. If there's a job available in your area and you just don't fancy it, you don't get dole. Increase in welfare for disable and elderly.
    5) Culling the disabled and the elderly to allow for the rate increase.
    6) Religion is banned from public practice. Church bells, mosque calls, all that crap - banned. You can still go to church/mosque/temple. We won't burn them down. Yet.
    7) Crime. Will now be classified in 5 areas, penalties will be set depending on the area. E would be petty theft, A would be murder. Work in progress.
    8) Reason for crime classification is in an attempt to stem the flow of crap people, anyone found guilty of a 'C' crime or worse will be automatically sterilised. Sorry, paedo/rapist/murderer - you forfeit your right to have a child.
    9) For anyone who is a drug or alcohol abuser, we will ay you £250 to be sterilised. Do whatever you want with the money, at least you won't be spawning.
    10) Social benefits - back to the voucher system, you feckless aholes. The days of using dole money for vodka, fags and scratchcards are at an end.

I am starting my own religion.
First, I will write a book. It's a story of good and evil, which starts of by me detailing how I believe the Universe was created. Next, I lay down a set of principles which I believe are necessary for a functioning society. Because no-one will pay any attention to my views, I will say that it was God who told me these things. A God I myself have invented. This God of course is the epitome of all that is evil and his holy book advocates murder, rape and incest. He also discriminates, contradicts himself by on the one hand saying that he loves all of his children equally, whilst on the other hand says he will reek his wrath on those that dare to challenge him and his commandments or worship another 'God.' I will also found a Church that steals wealth from around the world and advocates itself as a bastion for the poor as a result. I will suppress Freedom of speech and expression in the name of my religion.

Or, I could write a book about a God that reveals himself to an illiterate peasant who takes a child bride and rapes her repeatedly. This prophet, the one true messenger of God, let's call him Muhammad the Molester for arguments sake, advocates murder, genocide, rape, incest and outright Holy War against those that dare to challenge his teachings. God help anyone that rejects his fanciful religion or dares to worship another 'God'. As above - I will found a holy state that claims to be the seat of my religion and from who my teachings are spread around the world. I will suppress freedom of speech and expression in the name of my 'God.'

The two major religions in a nutshell. Both highly destructive forces that have wreaked havoc on world history.

Disagree. Think kids should be taught about all different kinds while young or else in this day and age you end up with people getting to 15/16 and only ever hearing about muslims as people who blow things up and cause terrorism which clearly isn't the case.

Teach them young that religion isn't a bad thing, people believe different things but they all pretty much preach the same message which is of good. Get them understanding that religion doesn't make people do bad things, people do that on their own and not to form opinions on someone based on the religion.

Point 1 - your country will go bankrupt. Tax from rich people brings billions into the economy.

    2. Not terrible idea, but what happens when someone is rushed in with an emergency? You refuse to treat them? Morally it's difficult.
Best idea I heard was when you arrive in A&E you have to describe how you were injured. Someone drove into you, fine, NHS will cover that you're good. You tried doing a backflip in your flat to impress someone and whacked your head on the ceiling? Sorry, you've fallen under the stupidity rule and will have to pay for any treatment yourself.

    3. Business, especially small business won't be able to cope. You'll need to pour shed loads more money into providing that, where you going to get that money from, not taxes as people aren't paying as much tax under your regime.

    4. Yup totally agree.

    5. I mean bit harsh but natural selection and all that

    6. Does that mean religious holidays are banned? Christmas? Easter?

    7. Kinda makes sense.

    8. What about people that are found guilty, sterilised but then found to be innocent? Do you take a sperm sample beforehand just in case?

    9. Doesn't really stop crime?

    10. Makes sense, but you'd have to get all shops and business to accept vouchers for certain items. Take a lot of organising.

Apparently, as the allied ships dropped off our soldiers onto the beaches of Normandy on D-Day, everybody prayed.

If they filmed it just outside Mekkah then it might be - but I somehow doubt it.
