Former England captain Rio Ferdinand has defended Raheem Sterling's request to "sit out" England's 1-0 win over Estonia on Sunday because of fatigue. Let's see how tired he is on Sunday Rio, when he goes passed you again
I think it's fair enough IMO. Look what happened to Michael Owen. Started in too many games too young, never rested at club or Country level, and was an injury-plagued busted flush by his late 20s. I bet he'll score against us at the weekend though (.. Sterling that is, not Owen).
I can deal with this since it is for the En-ger-land cause and the comments were made after the event so it made no difference to our opposition on Saturday.
I've heard that Rio may not be available after having injured himself tripping up over his own self importance.
Yes, I really wish he would just shut-up commenting on everything in the manner of a "retired" elder statesman. He's still being paid the wages of a professional footballer and needs to significantly up his game instead of performing like a clapped out, over the hill CB. Once again, along with all the others, it would appear Tony got duped into subsidizing his final swan song. Why always us?
I was in favour of signing Rio and I don't agree that he's as clapped out as some on here. However, it is looking like another of "those" signings that we are so prolific at!
Might be a silver lining. Fernandes had to have his arm twisted up his back to sign Ferdinand, may be the final straw re trusting Redknapp's 'judgement'.
Surely he will be. He's here to sell books and hats and keep his face in the papers and on telly. That means he has to play, however badly.
