Grew up with Eddie and really got into it when he sorted Michael Jackson out on “Beat It” he changed the way Michael made records. Have seen most of the guitar greats but sadly not EVH
First saw them support Black Sabbath in 78, saw them 4 times since, once with Hagar but don't think they were ever as good as that support slot. Remember Sabbath saying it was a mistake letting them do that support, they blew them off stage some nights.
Maybe its time we started a sticky called the Dead Pool or something as recently we have seen hero's like Prince, Tom Petty go within weeks of each other and so many legends who a lot of us grew up with. We should maybe educate the young millennial twots into what music really is all about?
Sounds good , some great guitar players gone over the last 10 years Gary Moore, Ronnie Montrose just 2 of them.
Peter Green, Brilliant musician Kirk Hammett owns his old les Paul guitar that Greeny sold to Gary moore for peanuts
Two of the best played Greeny and I don't include kirk in those thinking about the original Fleetwood mac people forget how good Danny Kirwan was and Jeremy Spencer to a lesser extent.
Spot on mate, Danny Kirwan hardly got the recognition he deserved, Greeny gave him it i hasten to add, i recently purchased the original dog and dustbin debut album by Peter Greens Fleetwood Mac, cost me just over 100 quid.
For me the greatest guitar players I have seen live are Mick Ronson and Prince, both gone way too soon. Prince is really really underrated and I am a massive Bonamassa fan and seen him live countless times. Saw Gary Moore twice and one of those was at the Albert Hall at a Strat event, he only played one song but it lasted like hours , Clapton, Joe Walsh, Gilmore, Many many more. but anyone who loves Mick Ronson should check out a band called Mick Woodmansey’s Holy Holy, just before the Spiders were formed by Bowie he had a band that consisted of Mick Ronson, Woody Woodmansey, Tony Visconti and they made The Man Who Sold The World. Those 3 are back together along with Glen Gregory on vocals and Micks Daughter Lisa on backing vocals, guitars and sax. Woody’s drums are spectacular, but in this band to replace Ronson is a guy who actually replaced Mick on most of Bowies albums after Ziggy. I have seen Ronson with the Spiders but seen Earl Slick countless times with Bowie and hes also part of Holy Holy too. Slick actually replaced Stevie Ray Vaughn on Bowies Serious Moonlight Tour because of SRVs untimely death
