Brilliant band, who, imo, never got the recognition they deserved. One of the best that emerged from the late 70's.
I always laugh at some of the songs that were banned by the BBC....things like Relax being an obvious one. They went for the "obvious" and thought they were being conscientious....yet songs like Golden Brown went way over their heads.

R.I.P. big man, soon there will be No More Heroes.

    Very true mate.

Growing up we knew many drummers well ...

... Moon, RIngo, Ginger Baker, etc.

They inspired new musicians but I can't think of one drummer right now.

If we're not careful every drumbeat will be a few computer generated versions or samples and no surprises ever again.

Couldn't agree more mate, and it's bloody sad to see.

Music coming from a "real band" is getting less and less, with "groups" now made up of a few lads and lasses who can sing and dance a bit to backing tracks....no talent whatsoever.
Or there's the new singer/songwriter types....dull, dreary ****e, regurgitated album after album....same ****e, different age on the cover!
They don't need musicians to play live...someone press "play", and they sing along.....minimal costs, maximum profit.
Marcus off here plays in a band....I would rather go see them in the Turf at Consett, than any of the current top 10 in the charts.

Sorry for the rant..pisses me off the state of modern music.

There are loads of excellent bands out there with proper musicians, they are just not all over the charts. Warmduscher, Yard Act, W H Lung, Fat White Family, Fontaines DC all proper bands from the UK. King Gizzard, Deerhoof, Moon Duo....I could go on. Music, like everything in life, changes. Bands are not the same as they were in the "good old days" and I am glad about that.

That's very true and I go to see bands, Future Islands last month, but there's a gradual change happening that will slowly strangle music.
