Ronnie Corbett has died at the age of 85. Never the main man in the Two Ronnies, but very much an integral part. It wouldn't have been the same without him RIP Ronnie <ok>

    RIP.

It really is turning into the year of Death.

If it keeps up those "in memory of" montages they do on awards nights are going to be an hour long!

a few of Ronnie's one liners

In Sopforth today, the funeral of Britain’s most successful door-to-door salesman was called off because every time they tried to close the coffin lid, he jammed his foot in it.

Mr Wally Turdham has again won the most amorous milkman of the year award. Apparently, he’s so popular with his lady customers that he’s started leaving notes on their doorsteps saying: ‘None today, thank you.’

The president of the Society Of People Who Like Eating Rotten Food said today that their annual picnic had been a tremendous success, with everything going off really well.

We have heard today that Britain’s most absent-minded man received a nasty bump on the head after he dashed upstairs and realised he’d forgotten something. He’d forgotten he lived in a bungalow.

I was going to open a restaurant with topless waitresses — but was put off by the overheads.

A man from Dagenham has named his son TGF 308F. He said he may not be rich but when he eventually leaves his son his Ford Mondeo, at least he’ll have his own personalised number plate.

Always overshadowed by the immense talent of Ronnie Barker, Ronnie C still had some great lines.
My favourite one-liner: "I've never been so nervous since I stood next to Shakin' Stevens at the urinal".

    RIP little feller.

    Ronnie Corbett death

Two Ronnies star and "true great of British comedy" Ronnie Corbett has died aged 85.

Corbett was one of Britain's best-loved entertainers and his partnership with Ronnie Barker in the BBC sketch show was one of the most popular of the 1970s and 1980s.

The diminutive star died in hospital "surrounded by his loving family", his publicist said.

It is thought he had been in ill health for some time. His wife of more than 50 years, Anne Hart, said that at a celebration dinner to mark his award of a CBE in the 2012 New Year Honours he collapsed and was rushed to hospital.

BBC director-general Tony Hall said: "Ronnie Corbett was a wonderful comic and entertainer, a man of great charm and warmth who brought laughter and joy to millions. He was quite simply one of the true greats of British comedy. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time."

Sir Michael Parkinson, a close friend, told the Press Association: "He was a very easy man to love. He was a perfect companion. He was bright. He could tell good stories. He was funny. He was very rarely depressed. Anne, his wife, she'll be distraught. I mean, it was a great marriage. They've been together for many, many years, and it was a very loving partnership.

John Cleese, who appeared with Corbett and Barker in a famous Frost Report sketch about social class in 1966 , said on Twitter: "Just heard about Ronnie C. So sad. He had the best timing I've ever watched. He was a great, kind mentor and a wonderfully witty companion."

It was on Sir David Frost's show that Corbett rose to fame and where he met Barker, leading them to forge one of Britain's best-loved TV partnerships.

Following his success alongside Frost, Barker and Cleese in The Frost Report, Corbett went on to enjoy a string of other TV successes including Corbett's Follies and No, That's Me Over Here.

It was while hosting the Bafta awards that audiences were treated to the first glimpse of The Two Ronnies. A technical fault saw hosts Barker and Corbett ad libbing for a few minutes - and their banter did not go unnoticed.

BBC executives signed them up and The Two Ronnies was born.

The duo became known for their famous catchphrase at the end of the popular show: "It's goodnight from me... and it's goodnight from him".

The small screen aside, Corbett's talents also extended to the theatre and big screen.

He starred in a host of theatre productions such as The Seven Year Itch and Out Of Order. A notable film appearance was his stint in John Cleese's 1996 follow-up to A Fish Called Wanda, Fierce Creatures.

He also had roles in big-name titles such as Top Of The Form, You're Only Young Once, Casino Royale, and No Sex Please, We're British.

The Edinburgh-born entertainer also had various solo projects, among them he hosted the BBC One game show Small Talk for two years from 1994 to 1996.

He recently appeared on the BBC Radio 4 show When The Dog Dies, which saw him reunited with the writers of his hit sitcom Sorry!

Barker died in 2005 and Corbett told LBC Radio about the last time they spoke, saying: "I took a call from Ro ... he said, 'You know I'm going'. That was the last time I spoke to him."

Corbett's health had suffered over the past few years and in 2014 he was admitted to hospital with gallbladder problems.

In March 2014 his wife spoke out following reports he was considering retiring follow the health scare.

She told the Daily Mail he still had "contracts and commercials that he is working on", including doing a TV pilot with comedian Rob Brydon at the time.

He is survived by Anne and his two daughters.

I thought 'Sorry' was fantastic. And, er, a little close to home....:emoticon-0108-speec

Superb comic timing, he was, as was said today, a comic actor as opposed to a mere comedian.

    RIP <applause>

I was 28 and still living at home when Sorry was on TV, to wind me up my then girlfriend used to call me Timothy after Ronnie Corbett's character. We had an on/off relationship for a few years. We split up when I invited her to my wedding, she thought that we were an item despite only seeing each other 3 or 4 times a year by that stage. Needless to say she never came to the wedding and never spoke to me again. Lucky escape me thinks in hindsight.
