Have just read on the Salut Sunderland Site the sad news of the recent passing of Willie McPheat, anyone who attended the Spurs Cup game of 1961 will never forget him. A belated RIP from me for one of the brightest of Alan Browns babes.
Pete Sixmiths tribute is well worth a read, as are most of his match reports on the current season.

Had the makings of a great career till an injury did for him, but that Spurs game showed what could have been.
