Yeah, Martinez is the Timber alternative and may or may not actually be a goer. All quiet on the Pau Torres front for a while. Who know's, maybe that one is quietly flying under the media gossip radar? Equally, might not be!
On one hand you’re saving f the gossip pages. And on the other hand, you’re complaining that they have gone quiet on one player.
If we don't buy a decent cb and fb OR a versatile player who can player either position, then this window will be a failure.
Seriously have we forgotten just how **** and lacking in confidence almost every player is in that back 4. We're going to be fragile as fck. The absolute key to our progression is being strong at home. Every **** and his wife turn up, take a look at our defence and think we'll have some of that. We need a solid cb pairing and a decent rb, orva player who can player either. Someone or two to inject a bit of steel in that back line AND lead it bcos there are no leaders there atm.
Yeah but whether you read it in the paper or you heard it from Ten Hag, it is still all gossip until we see an official news. So far, the closest that we have got has been Arnold talking over a good pint.
Poch available. (otherwise known as out of work) Potter ready for the step up. They'll go Poch, Potter not 'big' enough.
I’m surprised how quickly Chelsea have acted. The first turbulence. Ithink the current owners want to emulate the previous one in pulling the trigger quickly. There is something to be said for not procrastinating. If the manager has lost the confidence of the owners, players and fans he should go. I’m not sure that’s the case here.
Ironic if Pochetino replaced Tuchel at Chelsea. He replaced Tuchel at PSG and got sacked very soon afterwards. If Potter didn’t get the job it will indicate how small that group of so called elite managers are and how difficult for a promising young manager to break into it. I think potter should be ahead of Pochetino for what he’s done at Brighton. But would Chelsea owners trust him, a so called non elite manager without any trophies to his name?
Not being funny but why would Potter risk his career and reputation by going to a club that rarely keeps their manager longer than a couple of years. Who after Jose's first stint has had their career improve after managing Chelsea? Nobody. Which wouldn't matter if you're there for 7/8 years but not 2!!
i can give you 12 million reasons why Potter would not be able to resist an offer from Chelsea. Yes the tenure might only last 12 or 24 months. But someone in Potter’s position would find it irresistible to turn down managing a club with superstars, with potential to win the title, a team that plays in the CL and a potential to win it. Even if he does get sacked the experience of managing a top club is valuable and being sacked by Chelsea has got its compensation let’s put it that way. He won’t be on the breadline or homeless.
It's a fair point. But what happens after he gets sacked? He ends up like Lampard? Maybe not as he's 10x the manager Frank is... but still.
He might have to wait a long time for another opportunity like this to come up. Abroad teams never look at British managers really. Spurs have conte United just hired Ten Haag Pool have Klopp City have Pep Arsenal have Arteta None of these look like leaving in the next year or 2 and Potters stock has never been higher. It could fall if Brighton stop doing well. You may ask why would you not have belief in continuing good work at Brighton, if he believes in himself he will think he could do it at Chelsea too. Likewise, it's a new topdog at chelsea and so you can't just associate that to the previous owner. As for managers who went on to big things after chelsea - Ancelotti, Sarri to Juve, Conte to inter. Other chelsea managers Scolari - downhill Di Matteo - caretaker Benitez - caretaker Hiddink - caretaker Villas Boas - downhill Avram Grant - caretaker Lampard - risk had no rep Ranieri - got equivalent jobs but journeyman
Yeh it can only be Chelsea. But if he waits a year, maybe Conte fcks off? Maybe Newcastle with their money tree? Or Pep flops in the CL yet again and leaves to go to Italy or manage Spain?
Because the Chavs change their manager more often than their pants I don't think it is much of a stigma if you get sacked by them these days - probably the reverse.
Well that's Brighton fcked then. Had to happen AFTER we played them ffs! Rest of the league to enjoy 3 points.
