The review of Roger Water's show in today's Telegraph doesn't leave him the lickings of a dog. Hope you enjoy it. Best live band. Blue Oyster Cult on any given night.
Maybe he wasn't. I'd have expected Roger Waters to put on a good show myself. Accusing the bloke of lacking stage craft is a little rich when it's a guy that's been around for so long, doing the shows that Floyd have done. Was it Live 8 where they closed the show? Outstanding.
Hendrix at the City Hall - fantastic, also The Who at the Rink , tremendous - me ears have never been the same since that night.
I've been to masses of gigs over the years, here's some of the memerable one's Rolling Stones - Urban Jungle Tour 1991 (I think!) at FC Cologne Football Stadium with 70,000 other fans. Stevie Wonder - Westfalen Halle (Next door to Dortmunds ground) 1984, when "I just called to say I love you" was a big hit. Special mention must go to Prince. Saw him in Festfalen Halle in about 1992 and he was outstanding with masses of bass that sent shockwaves through your body. The visuals were just amazing, with a moving lighting rig that came down to stage level in the shape of a spaceship and 4 poster beds flying over us with scantilly clad women gyrating about on them! Most recent gig was Pendulum at Bournemouth BIC back in November last year. Highlight of the show was of course............Tarantula!!
Beatles ,,,,,, Sunderland empire, no Idea how good , seven and six for the ticket, couldnt hear a thing , cos all the daft bints were screaming. Cure in Melbourne , 92 ish, completely class. Bob Dylan,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,melbourne,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,great writer, cant sing worth a ****,,,,,,,,,,,,, Cream club AGO GOS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Newcastle ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,shear class Black Sorrows, Midnight oil, John Farnham, niosewotks, Mi sex,,,,,,,,,,,,All over aus,,,,,,,,,,,class acts I can go on for hours, BUT,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,pre match, in the OLD 29, or BOILERMAKERS,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,circa 1978 ish, has to be THE BIG PICTURE. Pud, Davy Dodds , Flash, Steve and Gorden the EGG.,,,,, Plus electric kettle and viking hats.
One of the bands that I remember well from the Old 29 in late 70s possibly early 80s is 'The Show Bizz Kids'...I really thought they were good enough to make it to the very top.
Well Roger last night was outstanding. Dunno what that reviewer in the paper saw but not the same concert as me. My original question was- what's everyone's favourite live performance? Well mine was last nights, its jumped straight to the top. Comfortably numb had a 40 year old northerner almost in tears, it's just a same Gilmour wasn't there to help out on the guitar but his stand in did an honourable job. Long live pink floyd.
I am so excited for the concert in Manchester, the guy who wrote the review in the Telegraph needs go grow a soul (not sure if that's possible), IMO it's the best piece of rock opera ever created, the music is phenomenal, and I cannot wait to hear the opening chords of 'In The Flesh' blasting around the MEN arena on 21st May!
Saw Floyd on the Division Bell tour in Holland. No Roger like but a really good gig all the same. Class getting wrecked to bits on quality Dutch green in Feyenoord's ground listening to Floyd on a massive sound system.
Believe it or not (and include IOW 2 and early Beatles and Stones) favourite ever live performance was Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen in Southampton 1975.....fantastic!!!
