Rotherham United v Swansea City Competition - Sky Bet Championship Date - 30 January 2021 Venue - New York Stadium Kick off - 3pm Following their hard fought home draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Brentford - a match where the Swans were second best for long periods - next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a tough looking away match at Rotherham who are battling at the other end of the table. On Wednesday evening, Brentford controlled the contest against the Swans and looked to be heading for victory after Tariqe Fosu-Henry's close-range header. But Swansea, who had Kyle Naughton sent off for a second yellow card on 69 minutes, claimed an equaliser just four minutes later when league debutant Hourihane's free-kick missed everyone and sailed into the net. Hourihane appeared to be crossing rather than shooting, but the home side did not care as the point moved them back to second in the table. Brentford are now unbeaten in 17 league matches, but missed a chance to leapfrog Swansea and climb into the automatic promotion places themselves. On the same evening, Rotherham moved to within two points of safety as they consigned Middlesbrough to a third straight home defeat. The Millers started the stronger and Matt Crooks atoned for a big miss by slotting a low shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards. Sam Morsy was given a gilt-edged chance to level, teed up by Duncan Watmore's thrilling run, but side-footed straight at goalkeeper Jamal Blackman. Michael Smith converted a late penalty after keeper Marcus Bettinelli felled Freddie Ladapo, before a composed finish from debutant Ryan Giles capped their biggest win of the season. The Swans have played the Millers on 79 previous occasions, winning 29, losing 25 and drawing 25. In the match played at the Liberty in November, the Swans ran out deserved 1-0 winners: Whenever the Swans play Rotherham, we remember Swans fan Terry Coles who was trampled to death by a police horse before the match played on 6 May 2000. RIP Terry Turning to Saturday afternoon, I’m expecting a far better performance from the Swans and hoping for a 2-0 win
Cooper needs to set the team up to go for this. I just hope the nearer we get to the end of the season and we're still in contention, he'll not get more defensively minded. I'll also go 2 - 0.
Thanks Taff for the write up. We shall always remember what happened to Terry that day. RIP Terry Back to the game,Swans to smash them 3-0.
Thanks Taff,....we seem to play a more attacking formation away so I am going for a win by two clear goals
Per the BBC ‘Magnificent tackle from Joe Rodon. He had to get that right. It's Sadio Mane stretching the Tottenham line again, well found by Roberto Firmino. Rodon took it off his toes as Mane was shaping to shoot.’
Great tackle ,timing was spot on , we was robbed 11,000,000. It’s good game of football Liverpool edging it in terms of chances but Spurs dangerous on the break
