The only player to return after his prime and do well again is the bloke from Homes under the hammer.
Not necessarily. They will compete for the same position and perhaps the loser goes out on loan. I think Nizet may be younger as well. McCallum turns 20 on 2 September and has more experience in English football.
From my favourite "reliable" twitter source: "Looking for to save money and place it elsewhere for more value. 2 of the more expensive players arent playing. Need to move them on. Signed(ing) Tettey’s and Lewis’ replacements. Both v highly rated." The savings are most likely Leitner and Amadou, with Sitti replacing Tettey and the Coventry signing replacing Lewis. Would be surprised if Tettey doesn't get a 1-year extension this summer, to smooth the handover to his replacement. Based on this season, he's still got value to NCFC for another year. Which I definitely didn't think I'd be saying 2 years ago.
As our longest serving player (8 years) and club legend I would love to see him sign another year and work as a coach behind the scenes , at 34 in April with dodgy knees he will need to hang his boots up soon.
Just read the rumour that Pukki is being sought by Man Utd for, wait for it, £100m! Reported in the Pink’Un. According to Farke he is not for sale as he is needed for the minor miracle of keeping us in PL. Can’t afford to buy but don’t need to sell. However, there is a hint that a similar bid in the summer may not be turned down. So do we have to assume that if we drop out of PL then he will be on his way out? Even in the event of being in the Championship, surely with at least £100m from being in PL for a season plus parachute payment £50m? would we need another £100m?
For a 100m I'd sell him now, with a loan back until the end of the season. But I suspect this is nonsense, he's not worth 100m.
Russell Martin is doing ok , I have no idea if Tettey has aspirations to even go into coaching let alone be successful. I was merely saying it would be nice to keep him about the place to train with his replacement and the other youth players .
He is currently level on 11 goals with Sadio Mane, Raheem Stirling and Harry Kane. How many would he have scored playing up front for Liverpool, Citeh or Spuds?
I think exactly the same, DD. Tettey is well spoken, dogged, and positionally excellent. He also knows the system under Farke. If he didn't run slower than rush hour traffic, he could have a couple more years in him. Not long ago I remember AT saying he didn't know what he was going to do after football. I think he has the knowledge and iron in his veins to make a good coach at NCFC.
Although slow players often last longer - never having been reliant on their pace which fades quickly after 30
Wasn't AT pacey earlier in his career? Not that it matters because it's his understanding of football and Farke's wants that I think he could teach his first successors and the the youth players.
True, but 3 of the last 4 loan signings haven't worked. That's a very poor ratio. Passlack, Roberts and Amadou - Farhmann exempt due to injuries and Krul's fine form.
Just a bit out of our league, despite all the murmuring during the season. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/51323082
