He's an average player. Nonetheless we need a target man type of player so let's hope he can improve and adapt to the Premier League.

Is he? Seems to score a goal every 100 minutes in Ligue 1 after being back up to Falcao for most of his career there. If that's average I'll take him in a heart beat.

I'm happy to be wrong. He'll also get my full support if he signs regardless of whether I think he's been average in the past.

I'm guessing that this confirms that Pellegrino will be the Manager for the duration of the season.

Austin doesn't do much in buildup play either, it's true. But anyone who claimed that he doesn't score against better opposition didn't watch their PL season, heh.

Meanwhile, Carrillo's goalscoring in the league, by opposition:

    Troyes - 4
    Metz - 2
    Marseille - 1
    Toulouse - 1
    Caen - 1
    SC Bastia - 1
    Dijon - 1
    Guingamp - 1

He has 1 goal in 2.5 seasons against top opposition in Ligue 1, and it was a 90th minute tap-in where they were already 3-0 up. Also scoreless in 14 CL matches with Monaco.

Pellegrino’s position is now under considerable scrutiny and, while the club hierarchy are sympathetic to the difficulties he faced while Van Dijk was still in the dressing-room and evidently keen to leave, they are concerned by recent results.

At the start of the season, it was felt that the squad could realistically mirror what Burnley have done by potentially challenging to get into the top six, and certainly competing to finish best of the rest. There is still faith in a wider model and no desire to turn towards a manager who might be perceived more as a quick fix, but the final two weeks of the transfer window are becoming critical.

Read elsewhere the person who deals with Monacos transfers is indeed in England......but doesn't know if he is here to see us.

Thing is I think most fans of all teams have a slight bitterness when a player goes which often clouds their judgement.
