To Mr and Mrs Laces congrats. There is a Kylie free version of the video to this song but we have to keep Fats happy. I bet Fats wishes he was standing next to her.
This was no1 for I think 16 weeks in 1991 from about July to October (I'l google in a mo). I remember that Terry Waite was released after nearly 5 years of captivity in Beirut in Nov (?) 1991 and the in the bar I worked in at the time the DJ said (in the days DJs talked) "Hey guys, Terry Waite got released today, I wonder what the first thing was he said?" I shouted, "Is Bryan Adams still No1". Got a standing ovation and a few free drinks. See guys, I used to be funny.
..And on the subject of the bar/nightclub I used to work in, we used to do a Karaoke Party Set - where basically the DJ would play loads of Karaoke without any singers on stage and we would all join in..a bit like a concert without the artists. Well this song I cannot hear without the extra words the whole of Benedicts/Academy in Bournemouth used to sing after the words Yellow Submarine. The words (and I apologise) '**** off". So "We all live in a Yellow Submarine" ..."**** off!" .."A Yellow Submarine" "**** off!".."A Yellow Submarine" "**** off!" Once you've heard it, you can't unhear it
Amazing to think that this happened 35 years ago today. My company had booked the leisure centre in petersfield for its employees and their families, so we took the kids and, whilst they were swimming, etc, we took it in turns to sit in the bar and watch! I had the whole thing on video tape for years - wish I could find that now ....
Hi all, hope you are well. I've been away from the boards for quite a while so apologies if this has been posted before. I only recently heard Disturbed's version of "Sound of Silence" and it is already probably one of my favourite covers.
They are primarily a metal band, and you can really hear that come through in his vocals as the song builds.
Lovely . He sounds a bit like the singer from Crash Test Dummies . Have you heard the album ? Might get it , got burned once Foreignor " I want to know what love is " . The rest was crap ! Have read the reviews . Will ring Square Records in Wimborne tomorrow and order it . Thanks for bringing this to my attention
I'd say this is absolutely an outlier. The rest is much more traditional metal. His voice is still amazing but the impact is lessened when set against the ferocity of the other tracks. Maybe give it a whirl on spotify before committing?
