I was there on the Island in 1969, 19 years old, I have to say I rather enjoyed getting my teenage kicks in the 60s.
I did watch it, and it was predictably ridiculous. And I think you mean to put "musical event of the year" in blue. HOWEVER. I am working on something that might make it at least an amusing watch next year. Watch this space.
@Saints_Alive New Lillingtons songs on Bandcamp - a six song EP, all of which are Enemy You covers. The story is that Kody Templeman (The Lilingtons front man and also Teenage Bottlerocket front man) was pen pals with David Jones, the leader of After School Special in the '90s when they started out. Jones went on to form Enemy You. He committed suicide in 2015. The EP is a tribute and some of the proceeds are going to charity. You might like After School Special - Enemy You, not so sure. All their stuff is on YouTube.
When I showed you the custom Telecaster in Saints colours I had made, I told you I was recording an album. It's done, and it's out. I won't be troubling the hit parade but I loved making it. Spotify: Apple: https://music.apple.com/gb/album/down-the-rabbithole/1568846227
Here's a new release from one of my favourite bands of recent years. The new album, Path of Wellness is out on the 11th of June
This is an interesting song that references Joni Mitchell, Marilyn Monroe's death, Tori Amos' rape and Nina Simone from another new release, Daddy's Home by St Vincent...
Cheers Chilco. If you could maybe play it a few million times it may make a wee dent in the cost of making it
A nice selection of tunes for an old Mod and Rude Boy, now where is that Fred Perry?... https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p09htgxb
My day is complete. One of my radio heroes, Nicky Horne, has just played my request for Nick Drake’s “Northern Sky” and thanked me for reminding him how good Nick’s music was. Feeling a bit smug this afternoon
I've just finished watching Deutchland 83, Deutchland 86 and Deutchland 89 which are absolutely brilliant tv series. The theme tune to all 3 series is very catchy and I really like it. It's an 80's track so the video filming is rather cheesy but as a record, it works quite well. Not exactly up there with David Bowie but it is well worth a listen.
I could listen to this song on constant repeat I think. The perfect love song …. Pity it never worked for me
And what links Major Tom to Nick Drake? Why, the excellent version of Cello Song from the brilliant film Hunky Dory, of course. One of the best soundtrack of covers and originals you will ever hear, well worth a view.
