Live show from Dinosaur Jr on KEXP showcasing some tracks from the latest album, Sweep It Into Space....
Here's some quality 60s Freakbeat from the under appreciated, The Creation. Love this stuff, probably because the Mod Revival bands in '79 took their cue from them and others...
Here’s the Queen of the North helped out by the King: Eivør from the Faroe Islands featuring Åsgeír from Iceland. Stunning.
My mate Dougie introduced me to this, making me turn the lights out and concentrate. Whenever I watch one of those remember the 80s shows I always think how they miss the good stuff.
If you lot fancy something new, that really doesn't sound like something new, then I HIGHLY recommend this guy -
I went for a BBQ round at Shakey's place once as I'm friends with his kids. There's no green door (in fact he hates that song). His kids are all in music now too - Jay has his own band (see below, with Fable's drummer!), his daughter was the choreographer for Westlife, and his other son, Dean, is an engineer and did Duran Duran's last album!! Here's Jay's band -
This is a favourite of mine, "Trio Tragico" from 2005. There are a mixture of moods on this album but the slower, more thoughtful pieces have a degree of pathos about them that I find really moving. The album feels like something Jimmy Guiffre would have produced had he been asked to produce the music for "Wallace & Gromit."
Looking forward to this...https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10986214/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_0 Apparently It's loosely based on Quadrophenia and features a few actors from that film. These lads from Warrington will be providing the soundtrack...
10 years ago today we lost one of the greatest female singers this country has produced. I’m so looking forward to seeing “Reclaiming Amy” this evening on BBC2. It addresses some of the deficiencies of Asif Kapadia’s 2015 film, from which Amy’s mother was entirely absent. We may never know everything about Amy Winehouse’s life and death, but her musical genius lives on. Here’s one of my favourite tracks, from her debut album Frank, where she vocalises what is essentially a saxophone solo based on James Moody’s version of “I’m In The Mood For Love”. Just brilliant.
This is an excellent documentary featuring all the people that mattered in the story of the legendary Yardbirds..
