https://www.skysports.com/football/...ntial-breakout-premier-league-stars-in-201920 Obafemi put forward as one of five potential breakout stars in this Sky article. Ralph is concerned about Obefemi's fitness...feels that he has to be carefully managed to keep him fit. I'm guessing that his powerful muscles are more prone to injury during fast movement....not unknown for powerful men to injure tendons as well as muscles during exercise. May need careful management to balance him out. Ralph rates him highly...be a tragedy if he keeps missing chunks of the season. An important season for him.
Ok, a plea for help here. For the first time for 17yrs I'm thinking of getting a season ticket (bluddy Ralph, eh). Of course I.ve left it late but the cost of a membershiip now is a bit rich really, and of course I'm m̶e̶a̶n̶ careful with my money. So it looks like the Itchen South, anyone sit there or have good or bad experieces ? Opinions please.
I haven’t sat there for a few years (Kingsland North for me when I had ST). Not one of the noisiest sections.
I moved seats as I now bring my son. For me , Corner of Kingsland / Northam was too good to turn down on price. As Fats says, not the best for noise / atmosphere but realistically, where is in SMS?? You should be fine there and can always liven it up yourself.
I chose the Kingsland when SMS first opened because it is more sheltered from bright sunlight in the eyes and driving rain in bad weather. I had my priorities right.
Itchen Centre for me (well classed as centre but left of halfway line from my view). About halfway between edge of area and halfway line. I'm high up. Pros: Great view Next to commentators Not the noisiest part of the ground Cons: Takes an age to get out at the end Next to commentators Not the noisiest part of the ground
Ta for the replies. I'm going for it, though apparently I can't purchase online at the mo even though signed in. I'll give it an hour or so then try the ticket office by phone. With my wife muttering about retirement options in lands as far away as Cornwall I thought I should get some St Marys time in while I still can.
https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/17781980.southamptons-new-fan-zone-given-opening-date/ Fanzone to open 17th August. Whilst I would probably not use it, I think it's a great idea to provide entertainment for all those lost souls wandering about...long overdue.
When a mate of mine with season ticket went abroad for a few months in a hurry (His daughter in Aussie was having pregnancy problems) He and his wife just jumped on a plane and went off for 5/6 months. He loaned me his season ticket (Feb through the end of season) Not that I could go as much as I would have liked but I did sit in the Itchen south for a few matches. He still has his ticket and we are in constant touch. So on your behalf I gave him a ring and asked him just now. He and his son share the same seats he has had since ST Mary's was opened. He enjoys his time at St M has never had any probs and gets on with the guys and gals around him. I have to say my experience was the same. Yes you still have your moaners and groaners but generally very good. Hope this helps. BT
Managed to get it online (yes one of the cheap £400 ones). It appears the site/club definition of leaving a single seat 'orphaned' is somewhat bizzare and illogical so the online system stops it going into the basket. It would be nice if they told you why. So I chose one two seats away which makes more of a mess if people were trying to book together imo, but hey ho. It's amazing how much my inner Saint feels lifted by this act. Now I just have to develop a rational for Mrs greensaint on her return from Canada next Friday. That'll teach her to leave me on my own!
The surrounding area is not the nicest and the more local pubs struggle to stay afloat outside of the 20 odd days the stadium gets used. I do wonder what those hardy souls who get an autograph and selfie with the players do for the three hours before kick off? The announcement is short in detail, but I do hope they team up with local businesses for the food and drink aspect. Would be good exposure for local restaurants and different choices will keep fans coming back.
Kingsland Block 29 these days, used to more central but moved for financial reasons. It is a good place to be, loudspeakers have been too loud recently, ruins the art of conversation and even painful on the ears at times. One problem is that I sit in fidget row, constant coming and going and early leavers. Getting in and out has never been a problem. I have sat in the Itchen and found many problems, i.e. leaking roof, sun in the eyes for evening games, draughty at times and congested getting in and out.
You do not want to sit anywhere near me as after three washes my antiflatulence pants are no longer working and I am surrounded by even more miserable old buggers than me.
