How ****ing ridiculous, having to cover their faces in this heat. Cancel the season, it’s getting beyond a joke now.
Not surprising, you can't play football in Spain in July in the middle of the afternoon. South of Spain could quite easily hit 40 degrees I'd imagine.
If you went for a run around Southampton Common would you expect there to be someone there giving you abuse? They are in a controlled environment with absolutely no contact between any two individuals and as professional athletes I would say that they are entitled to some form of elite training rather than having to rely on a kick-about in their back garden with the wife and kids...!!
It's what it's leading to though rather than the training in itself, and I'm entitled to have and express my opinion on it. Gonna start hammering Saints today too ref a refund.
They'll just refer you to the terms and conditions of buying a match ticket. Just got to be patient, it can't be that much longer.
But it's a fact that I'm not allowed to attend, so it's irrelevant if/when it's rearranged for. Knowing Saints they're probably thinking of ways to stitch everyone up.
northampton fans have refused the offer of a refund from the club. Bit different at that level to be fair.
To be fair if they had scrapped the season then I'd likely do the same and just let them keep it. But as they've decided that it's absolutely vital to be forced through due to the tv money aspect, then I've decided that actually, that 90 quid is quite important to me too.
I agree with your principle on that. I don’t think it’s right or wrong for a fan to want their money back. Easy for someone to say they shouldn’t ask for money back but they don’t know that person’s circumstances. Financially it might be a real strain and that money could be used elsewhere if the game isn’t available to attend.
I quite liked what Everton have done which is offer fans 3 choices - Cash, credit for whenever they can go again, or a donation to their in the community charity. We'll probably get told 'Well Gao is a bit skint so soz about that'
I'm against them playing matches as well. I just think that as long as the correct protocols are in place then there's no harm in them being able to be put through a proper training programme at the club. As far as the matches go, you only have to look at Germany at the weekend. The players train all week with social distancing in place, they arrive at the ground with social distancing in place, the subs sit on the sidelines with social distancing in place, but then they're quite happy for 22 players to run around for 90 mins with no social distancing in place...!!
Yeah I read that the Bundesliga is unhappy with a club (one of the Berlin ones I think) who didn't social distance during a goal celebration. So you're allowed to tackle and grapple at corners but celebrating is a big no-no? Absolutely ****ing mental.
Interesting that the rules for golf are, you can golf but only in pairs and while maintaining social distancing. And you're only allowed to touch your own ball. To get back to training in football it's kind of impossible for them to only touch their own ball (and of course theres a lot more than 2 of them). How do defenders do heading drills? Etc. Also for Tennis they've said no doubles, but singles is fine. But of course you can't not touch the ball in tennis. I don't get why it's one rule for one sport, and a different for another. Contaminated surfaces presumably work in the same way regardless if it's a golf ball, a tennis ball or a football.
After each session presumably. They're not going to disinfect inbetween every time someone touches the ball. And they're not going to disinfect it in the air as the coach throws the ball for the defender to head.
At the end of the day the risks are tiny for PL footballers. They are tested twice a week and all the equipment they use and even the pitches are disinfected.
